Hi everyone -

I just finished reading Jaydyn Chelcee's Montana Men series (well, the installments she has released so far) and I absolutely loved the series. Her style of writing hooked me from the start. Apparently, she also writes under the name Tabitha Shay and I got the first book in her witches series with the hope that I would enjoy it as much as her Jaydyn books. Not done with the book yet and, while I definitely plan to finish the book (and probably the rest of the series), I much prefer her writing as Jaydyn Chelcee. I don't think my preference for Jaydyn over Tabitha has anything to do with the difference in genres since I generally like to read both contemporary and paranormal books... Could be that her witches series will grow on me and get better with each book.. Time will tell.
In the meantime, I'm wondering if you guys have any insight about authors who use pen names whose books are great regardless of the name they are publishing under. I feel like I'm probably missing tons of great books because I'm either not aware of an author's pseudonym, or I miss books because the author is published by multiple publishers under multiple names. For example: I really like what I've read by Tymber Dalton but I haven't read any of her books under her other names (why she has three additional pen names, I don't know). Does anyone have recommendations for books written under her other names? Just one example - I'd appreciate any tips you might have for any author and their "counterparts."

Thanks much!!

I don't think J.A. Konrath (aka Jack Kilborn, Joe Kimball) would suit your tastes but I had to mention him, suits mine ;-)
There's always Jayne Ann Krentz, aka Jayne Bentley, Jayne Castle, Amanda Glass, Stephanie James, Amanda Quick and Jayne Taylor.
And of course Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb.

Thanks, Merry! I didn't think I had read any of Krentz's books under her other names but it turns out I have -- I really love Stephanie James. Not sure how I missed that connection but since I enjoy Krentz/James, I'm going to give another of her "counterparts" a try. Any particular favorite?

I'm a Nora die-hard; a few years ago I started collecting hard copies of all of her books, even tracking down copies of those out-of-print, and now I have a massive bookshelf of her entire catalogue. I can't bring myself to buy her books in e-book format, I feel like I need the real thing! :) LOL I totally love JD Robb too but I don't have the same psychotic tendency towards collecting hard copies and usually just buy the ebooks. Anyways, very much appreciate the tip!!

I loved Jaydyn Chelcee's Montana Men, however I didn't manage to finish Witch's Brew, it just didn't grab my attention in the same way.
It frustrates me when it's not commonly known what other names they publish under, I had this problem with Trinity Blacio's Dangerous Possession: The Claiming, I also downloaded Declaration of possession by Maria Moonstar, only to realise it's the same book published in her pen name, although an expanded version, I suppose double the sales figures for her tho'
here's the link if you'ld like to check the books out:

Margaret Astrid Lindholm, Aka Robin Hobb.
Absolutely love everything she's written under Robin Hobb.

I totally agree with the Jaydyn vs. Tabitha comment. I'm about a third of the way through Witch's Heart and I don't know if I'll be able to finish it. I keep hoping that it will morph into this amazing story then I remember that a book shouldn't be a struggle to enjoy... Didn't have this issue with Montana Men at all, absolutely love her writing in that series. Unfortunately, the next installment isn't due out til October :( Oh well, I will definitely check out Dangerous Possession in the meantime. Thanks for the tip!!

Question for you guys: Do you know why authors write with different pen names? Is it because they have to, for example the publisher makes them if they want to write in different genres? Perhaps an Artist Formerly Known as Prince situation? I hadn't thought of the whole doubling profits by releasing extended versions of the same book under different names but that certainly makes sense. For some reason, I always assumed pen names were used because authors were were writing for multiple publishers and contract limitations made writing under different names necessary.. Apparently, I'm pretty narrow minded haha

PS - fantastic fiction is friggin fantastic! Very aptly named if I do say so myself :) It's now in my favorites list - so thanks much!!

any time!

It's also a favourite of mine.
I find it great for the correct order list, of books in a series, and I regularly
check back on favourite authors, to see if any new books are due for release.

I don't know about all of them, but one author here writes in something like 6 different genres, and she uses a different name for each one!
(Gini Koch - A.K.A. - G.J. Koch, Anita Ensal, A.E. Stanton, Jemma Chase, J.C. Koch)

The best thing you can do is do a (Google, Yahoo, etc.) search for the author name you DO know and then look for their "official" website. That is where they usually inform you of other pen names they use. (That's how I found out about Gini Koch. )

Most annoying one might be "the book with no name" by anonymous .... you can find it as the bourbon kid trilogy I think, the sequels are not as good as the first book, but have a look :D
