Can you recommend the last three books you had great fun reading? It doesn’t matter which genre: thriller, romance, fantasy... What matters is that you would easily suggest them to others.

For me the last three were:

Wait for Me by Elisabeth Naughton
Romantic Suspense. A genre that I usually don’t like that much (I prefer hardcore thrillers)... but I'm a sucker for amnesic stories.

Love You More by Lisa Gardner
Thriller. Very well written, kept me guessing 'til the end. Highly recommended.

Rogue Wave by Boyd Morrison
Technothriller. Great fun with a mega wave destroying everything (aka mega-catastrophe)... nicely paced.

Do we need to read the previous books on the series to fully enjoy them, or the stories are totally independent?

Gotta read them all but that's my opinion. I've read others that are good too but you said 3 ;)

A Small Free Kiss in the Dark by Glenda Millard

Flowertown by S.G. Redling

Far North by Marcel Theroux

All dystopian...so maybe not "fun" in the way you mean but I really liked them.

That's cool too. The idea is to gather intel on other books and eventually read them. ANY kind of book. :)

Have you read Karin Slaughter? She's amazing and sounds like right up your alley. :)

Right on the spot. I am. (She's one of my favorites.) :) Currently I'm reading Fallen by Karin Slaughter (next to be: Criminal).

I'm also reading Creep by Jennifer Hillier and liking it so far. In fact I just posted a request on Mobilism for her next, Freak.

On other genre, I've put "your" Far North by Marcel Theroux on my to read list. Really liked the blurb. (Thanks.)

7_7_7 ~ sounds like we have similar tastes in books. I enjoy Gardner, Morrison and Slaughter. I have Naughton but haven't gotten around to her yet.

For your action adventure, have you read Matthew Reilly yet? I LOVE both his series ~ Scarecrow and Jack West. Great stuff.

The last three I most enjoyed would have to be The Maze Runner series. Finally picked them up and read them a few weeks ago. Been in a slump since then, though just started the newest Chelsea Cain, so hopefully it'll be good.

Colter's Lady by NOT ALLOWED

Looking for Alaska - John Green
Teens (but really thought-provoking)

Shibumi - Trevanian
Spy story (a prequel to this one has been written by Don Winslow, Satori)

The winter of Frankie Machine - Don Winslow
crime fiction, Mafia related.

All 4 stars out of 5. All page turners.

@ImzadiRose

Indeed similar tastes. I'll check Matthew Reilly (new to me); Ice Station (oh, Antarctica!) might be right down my alley. :) Also Chelsea Cain, who sets her novels in Oregon. Thanks for your suggestions.

Have you checked Greg Iles? I'm a huge fan, specially of his stand alone novels like Blood Memory, True Evil, Dead Sleep and Third Degree. If you choose one to go first, try Blood Memory. He's one of the rare male writers that knows how to portray a female character (imo).

@Gea

Romances are not my favorite genre, but I've enjoyed Jaci Burton's Play-by-Play series (fav: Changing the Game) and some Shiloh Walker's novels. (I think, however, that they might be bit more risqué than the ones you suggested.) I don't like alpha male centered stories, but I can enjoy a novel in which the female character is owner of her own mind and isn't easily played around. Also some dose of humor helps.

Another one that I enjoyed is Meg Maguire's Caught on Camera. I might even read her The Relunctant Nude.

I'd never heard of Shibumi. The blurb and first chapters are quite interesting. Thanks.

Anything by Sarah Addison Allen is worth a read.

The last series I really enjoyed were the Flavia de Luce novels by Alan Bradley.

Seth Grahame-Smith's book, Unholy Night was a pleasant surprise.

All very different types of fiction, so depends on what your tastes are running toward right now. I tend to bounce between genres a lot. And thanks for the reminder on the Jaci Burton books! I've been meaning to read those for a while now. Taking a Shot had me at the cover. :-)
