i usually read historical romances, paranormal romances and stuff like that but last week i just started to read fantasy books. i discovered daughter of the blood by anne bishop, which has been around for years, quite interesting so i'm already reading the sequel now. i like it since the heroine is somewhat interesting and the book suddenly sucked me into a new world. some people doesn't like it but well.. we all have our tastes.

I love her books, the trilogy is great, and also the sequels maybe at the end a little boring, seven books are a little too much maybe...


I've read Barney's Version lately, pretty much a classic but I loved it

Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (actually all books based on him).

The writing is just superb and the imaginative (circa 1880-1910) content (for that era) is very very good. Kudos to Mr. Doyle

In fiction: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
& Nonfiction: Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

The Red Knight. Miles Cameron. High fantasy, but in a gritty, joe abercrombie kind of style. It's a first novel, but it's the kind of amazing first novel you see once every couple years, up in the same league as "the name of the wind".

Can't recommend it enough, and given how long it took me to get through it, the dead tree edition must run to 8 or 9 hundred pages.

Perfect if you need a romantic love story with a touch of drama.

Just finished reading Loved and Lost by Stephanie Kusiak and i now have to suffer the wait for the sequel.

Just the Sexiest Man Alive, by Julie James (for the fourth time). I like the verbal battles between the heroine/hero, and the fact that she is strong without being a caricature of a ball-buster. Plus the sex scenes are VERY brief and fade-to-black style.

The Dublin Murder Squad Series by Tana French. Amazing characterization and suspense.
