Have you read any of her writings? Did you like it?
Why isn't she famous, as all the other modern paranormal or dystopian writers are? Cause she's very, very talented...

I've only read Saving Francesca, which I enjoyed very much. I have Jellicoe Road on my TBR.
I don't know if she is or isn't famous (they do have her books at the bookstore here in this non-English-speaking country where I live -- that's my personal measure of well-known), but isn't Finnikin etc more high fantasy than paranormal/dystopian?

I agree. She's a brilliant author. I've read the lumatere chronicles and can honestly say they are one of the best series I have ever read. Looking for authors as talented as her, any suggestions?

Just finished Jellicoe Road, and it might be my favorite book I've read this year so far.
This was my first book by her....I think I'll try her Lumatere Chronicles trilogy

I love Marchetta. I've read almost all of her books. That Lumatere Chronicles is definitely something amazing. She's very very talented of course. She's one of my favorite authors.
I have no idea why she isn't famous with that kid of talent. Probably the connection? for publicity I mean. Goodreads is not enough as a promotion apparently.

I think on Goodreads she's on the list of books which should be better known. I've read Saving Francesca and On the Jellicoe Road, and the latter was pure brilliance. I know SF wasn't meant to be a romance, but to be honest I didn't like Will much.

I love Melina Marchetta! Jellicoe Road is one of my favorite YA novels of all time. The Piper's Son is a close second. BTW I think she is writing the screenplay for the film adaptation of Jellicoe. I'm so thrilled to see it on the big screen!

I absolutely love her contemporary novels. I'm generally nervous about reading fantasy - what did people think of her fantasy novels?
