Ok, so I'm always looking for more book series' to read, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for me.

Some that I read include, Game of Thrones, The Strain, The Midnighters, Mortal Instruments, Inheritance Cycle, Nightside, Odd Thomas, and the Last Apprentice.

So if anyone has recommendations similar to these I'd really appreciate them.

I second Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Series. Truly and amazing set of books. You might also want to check out Steven Gould's Jumper series, he just came out with the fourth book this month and it's looking to be quite good.

Epic Fantasy series:
David & Leigh Eddings :
  • 1. The Belgariad/Malloreon/Belgarath the Sorcerer/Polgara the Sorceress (1 story line in two 5 books series, with 2 companion books where 2 of the main characters relate the history before the series events [my 2 favorites books, reading them at the beginning means major spoilers, but its the way I stumbled on the series  ])
  • 3. The Elenium/Tamuli

Terry Brooks :
  • 2. Landover series (the first 1 or 2 chapters of Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold! show the age of the series, but keep going it won't matter later)
  • 4. The Shannara series (yes the first book, The sword of Shannara, as major similarities to Lord of the Ring but keep going there's more to it than that... and since there are many Shannara related series you can look here for the suggested reading order: http://www.terrybrooks.net/novels/reading-orders/)

Romance:
(WARNING: the following books include some sexual content)
  • Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling (New favorite :-D, be forewarned that the "focus love story" takes up less and less of the books as the series progress and follow up on previous characters and the "politic" of their world take more space)
  • and if you want to try a "light sci-fi" romance series (lost earth colony with strong contemporary feel, might not be for all sci-fi fans) you can try Jayne Castle's Harmony series (those dust-bunnies are cute  ) (note: while the Psynergy, Inc series is still a fun read, it feel a lot like a first draw for the Harmony series)
