Nora Roberts - Public Secrets was my first foray into serious reading. After that I've been unable to stop.

The librarian show me the children's bookshelf to me when I was 6 years old and showed me hundreds of books that I could read, for free. As a young child, for me it was The Secret Seven, Famous Five etc by Enid Blyton. Then I started my "adult" reading by reading The War of The Worlds in a day. At the time I thought the book was magical. Now I have read all the usual thrillers and have expanded my "reading knowledge" by joining a book group several years ago.

That was back in the 70s, so I can't recall. I do know that I was reading Dr. Seuss to my kindergarten class. When I was a preteen, I'd go to the library and come out with a stack of books up to my chin.

I started reading novels when I was 14. If I remember right, I think I started first with Sweet Valley High then moved to Avon Romances and as they say, the rest is history ;)

I was in junior high school when first read Mates, Dates series by Cathy Hopkins. And that led to my liking from reading manga to reading novel.

Haha i honestly have no idea. im pushing 40 and i started reading a long long time ago. But here is a small sample of what i can remember.

Narnia series. by Clive Staples Lewis
The Chronicles of Prydain series.. by Lloyd Alexander << just might .. MIGHT be the first series i read.
The Hardy boys series .. This is another one that just might be my first.
Nancy drew.. Didn't read many of these.

I Have no idea how many books i have read over the years.. At times i can go through a book a day. then not touch a book for a month.
Takes me 2 days to read the 1050 pages of Battlefield earth. by L. Ron Hubbard. Its a pretty good book. Shame about the movie.

Started reading around age 6-7. was reading high school level at age 10-11.

Hmm...it's been awhile but I read the Narnia series when I was 9, but didn't really become an obsessive reader until I read David Eddings at age 12. After Eddings, I was toast...been reading ever since. Lol.
