I am an aviation history buff and am especially interested in the very early periods of aviation development. I have plenty of books and other resources that focus on aviation but I am now looking to back fill my knowledge of that era with regards to how regular people lived and worked.

I have the last two volumes of the "History of Private Life" series and it has been somewhat helpful but I want to know more.

Can anyone recommend books that might help me? I am open to just about anything, even historical fiction, if they get the details right. I am less interested in biographies of famous people but would be open to that if, again, the details of their day to day lives are accurate.

An American focus would be preferred.

Any help would be appreciated.
