i loved both books by Gemma Burgess (A Girl Like You and The Dating Detox). she is a revelation to me, i only hope her next book is just as good.
anything by Sophie Kinsella is generally good chick-lit (though i have to admit i never got one the shopaholic train, i just disliked it from the beginning). my two favorites are Twenties Girl and I've Got Your Number.
Jill Mansell writes good chick-lit, as well, and so does Katie Fforde though with them i find that i can't read two of their books side by side, i usually have to give it at least a couple of weeks.
Miranda Dickinson's Fairytale of New York and It Started With a Kiss (especially!) are so wonderful. i really really liked them.
and i liked A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans, but her other books i didn't like so much. Paige Toon's Lucy in the Sky and Chasing Daisy were also wonderful.
and of course Meg Cabot's Queen of Babble series, i absolutely loved, if only because things turned out exactly the way i wanted them in the end.

I's suggest Meg Cabot- I really like her Boy Series and the Heather Wells books. Queen of Babble's pretty good too.
