Your request took me by surprise and brought home how much we all insert our thoughts and descriptions into the books we read. Unless an author describes a character as being anorexic or desperately trying to lose 50 pounds, I pretty much imagine most women in books fit your criteria. Now I'm kind of curious what other people "see" when they read the books I read. :-)

Gerry Bartlett's Real Vampires... series comes to mind as the main character is a healthy size. Also ALL of the gals in all of Katie MacAlister's many books are big - usually tall and full-figured but not fat.

If you like historic romance, a number of Georgette Heyer's heroines might interest you. From the The Grand Sophy:

Lady Ombersley, meanwhile, standing as though rooted to her own doorstep, was realizing, with strong indignation, that the light in which a gentleman of great height and large proportions regarded his daughter had been misleading. Sir Horace’s little Sophy stood five feet nine inches in her stockinged feet, and was built on generous lines, a long-legged, deep-bosomed creature, with a merry face, and a quantity of glossy brown ringlets under one of the most dashing hats her cousins had ever seen.

Kristan Higgins and Jennifer Crusie. None of their heroines fit the barbie doll stance

May be you should try Amanda Quick books especially the historical ones. Her couples are ''normal, average looking'' people.

Try Sally Mackenzie the Naked Lords, i think the second book, The Naked Baron will fit your description.
