I'm looking for an archetype, where the truly scary man loves only one woman, and one woman only. Take that woman from him and he's willing to bathe the world in blood.

e.g. March/Sirantha Jax from Grimspace by Anne Aguirre, Wolf/Aralorn from Wolfsbane by Patricia Briggs, Phantom/Christine from the Phantom of the Opera

I prefer sci-fi/fantasy, but will consider other genres, too.

Do she need to really dispear or his fear of loosing her (and go nuts trying to prevent it) works too?

Then you can try fifty shades and this man trilogys.

Both have strong alfa males who goes to more or less do what ever they think is necesarry to keep there woman safe. They are in love for the first time in life, and are scarred to death that there ghosts in the closet/weaknesses will scare the woman away, and therefor acts over the top "insane".

I should start with fifty shades (all books published) because this man #3 is going to be published at 2(?) july.

Tairen Soul Series by C.L. Wilson

It's more of a Fantasy genre. But I absolutely loved it. Hero literally scorched the world when he thought that his mate died. Only to find out she wasn't his true mate. And now, he finds his true mate and won't ever let her go.

I loved this series and I think it fits what you are looking for perfectly. :)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I read the series. I didn't get along with the author's writing, and didn't really like.

You can try reading books by Lisa Marie Rice. Most of her books have what you are looking for.

I would agree with most of those - Try the "This Man" series, LIsa Marie Rice books (although I did not like her latest), EL James 50 Shades.

For paranormal, I thought the earlier books in the CHristine Feehan Dark series were similar. Although I don't like the later books, the series just got kind of old for me.

Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Its a paranormal series, told from a female perspective. The love interest is really intese though/would destroy the world/very powerful, and although its not as obvious who it is in the first book Darkfever, it truly is one of the best series I have read in my entire life.

Ah very interesting :)

Lora Leigh's breeds kinda fits what you're looking for IMO. Laurann Dohner's New Species stuff does too. But, I am new to erotic/romance novels so don't have a very good idea of what to suggest. Hope thathelps.

@amethyzt

Thank you so much for The Misted Cliffs recommendation. I absolutely loved it and loved Cobalt the Dark. I wish there were more novels featuring the two of them!

This is a great thread, as this is a trope I also like. I'll try to brainstorm up other titles as I KNOW I know of more :P
