So ladies, who are your favourite authors in erotica? Classical and Contemporary?

What constitutes good erotica in your view?

NOT ALLOWED & Cherise Sinclair ~ Contemporary and good BDSM.

I like a strong storyline with likable characters. I like, especially in my BDSM, for it to be done more realistically "correct" with RACK or SSC than characters not knowing what they heck they are doing and portraying the wrong way to go about it. (*cough* 50 Shades ~ blech, let me throw up now) I like to get invested in the characters, care about them or want to know more about them. I go for more of the glitter or sugar kink than the hardcore non-con stuff.

I am going to sound super ignorant here, but is MM male on male? :D

I'd love some suggestions, if so.

And yes, I am going to check out NOT ALLOWED' works soon.

Yes, MM = Male/Male (shudder!)
As far as where to find them, looking up Weelee's posts should give you a multitude of titles from which to choose.

I enjoy Cherise Sinclair, JR Ward, Tiffany Reiz, Gena Showalter, Larissa Ione, Tielle St. Clare among others.

Generally what I'm looking for is good well rounded characters as well as well written love scenes. I guess it's different for everyone but unless I enjoy the characters and their arc in general I'm not going to be into the book just for the sex scenes because I'm not invested and I'm not buying it.

As an aside I really agree with the comment above about 50 Shades, that was just an awful series entirely.

I'm with Weelee, M/M are my favorite. Though I've found a few F/F that weren't too stereotypical.
My main issue, is I want characters that have enough development to seem like real people. I wan them to have real jobs, real family lives, real medical issues and an actual personality.
My main problem with M/F erotica is how terribly formulaic it has become. Even the names are often the same. I want stories where if someone says "I love you" after the first time they have sex, their friends check them into a psych ward for co-dependency. I want to hear about the embarrassing and funny bits that happen to real people. Everything: garlic breath, periods, annoying pets, whisker burn. Otherwise you could copy an ebook, search/replace out the names and republish, and who'd ever know. Which, is totally unacceptable to me.

I'm with Weelee and Miss A. Since 2008 or 2009 I read only M/M. I have, I think, 2-3 thousands M/M books (or more). I don't know exactly how many because my library has books from before 2008 (M/F and menage).
Many of them are so bad I wonder how they even get to be published. But I'm a hoarder - bad or good I like to know I have them.
Some of them I bought. The rest... it's why I'm here.
