Summer here in South Africa too. Hot as heck, and El Nino is causing a drought that is bringing our farmers to their knees.

The amazing thing is how people have reacted, churches, schools, businesses...

This effort was spearheaded by the GLBT community in our city

This today is a rainy day, clouds obscuring the sky and pouring down rain drops, icy cold and almost as sharp as tiny blades on my skin. Ideal if these actually would hit heads hot with temper, the ensuing vapor might covers up any tracks left behind by the murderous sounding impacts of wills.

Tomorrow I'll be once more on the road and maybe, while I'll look out the window of the train, some sun rays will find their way through the clouds, pulling water as a saying is here, and perhaps, with the help of one or two lost raindrops I will see a rainbow. And be reminded of how unlimited and diverse our world is, therefor we human beings are. Isn't that great?

I'll never be bored. I'll never be truly alone. I'll never be truly desperate. As long as I have a simple window built into a simple train carrying me to my destination. Because, after rain there is sun. And that is the deepest truth ever if one cares to really - really - look out of the window and observe. So I enjoy both. To the fullest.

And ignore fog-inducing hot clashes of wills - or egos. I believe Eckart Tolle called them so.

It has no idea what season it wants to be here. Snow and ice 2 weeks ago, in the mid 60's since then and now more snow and cold coming in on Thursday. My allergies have no idea what to do. Some of our trees have budded out and our honey bees have started to come out and say hi! Just color me confused :?

We had a blizzard a couple of weeks ago the same week it was 60 degrees. Last week 0 degrees, this week 50's with rain. I know what you mean about allergies, mine are so bad. Crazy weather. Come on spring!

Hello, everyone, it's the new guy who joined the group ( ´∀`)ゞ

I've only recently started reading more books with LGBT protagonists and queer romances in them, mostly because for some reason, it never crossed my mind that they existed. OTL I haven't finished much, actually, as I keep getting distracted by other things, but my current favorite right now is Kirith Kirin by Jim Grimsley. The worldbuilding is awesome, the plot is epic, and the romance was very cute. TTwTT

Don't know if you've heard.....
Samhain Publishing is closing their virtual doors. They will have a site wide 40% off sale on the 29th I believe.
I went and made sure I had downloaded all my purchases from them.

This makes me so sad. They have some amazing authors writing for them. I hope they find a home at Dreamspinner or some of the other publishing houses. Luckily most of my books are at AllRomance or Dreamspinners. Because I use ARe so much I had not realized how many of my favorites are published by Samhain til I just went and looked at the site.

I heard about it half a hour or so ago and was so shocked!  I buy Samhain books since I started to read mm years ago, and I really didn't see this coming.
Fortunately they don't close down immeditely if I read their "Goodbye Letter" right..... There will be even a few new books coming out in the next month.

But I'm really angry right now, because I'm sure that this is among other things an AMAZON related problem. Amazon pushes all the little publishers to their limits, how should they compete with such a huge corporation?!
Okay, I confess that I’m sometimes a little bit on the paranoid side, but I really fear the day when all the little publishers are gone and only the great A is left....
and can dictate us what we have to read!!!! :silent:

But we should be honest also, and admit that's it's our fault too.
For myself I can only say, that I don't buy so many books anymore, since I'm here on mobilism. In earlier years I bought much, much more.
Okay, there was Fictionwise then, with it's great discounts, and we poor Europeans didn't have to pay this piss-poor tax that's on each and every book we pay outside Europe since last year. (For Germany ist 19% more for each book, don't know how much it is for other european countries....)
However, I always bought with Samhain, because they always had great discounts, but I saved money with other publishers, where the discounts aren't so good.
Okay, I stop the rant and step down from my soapbox... But I'm really sad right now.
Samhain always had good authors and really great stories.....I hope they will last a little bit longer :(

airdragon,
I'm with ya. I try to buy my books anywhere but Ammy!!! I also agree that I tend to buy less these days, but I still buy a lot. I will read one I got on here and if it's worth the asking price, I buy it. I've found a lot of knew to me authors on here.
I must confess I haven't bought from Samhain in awhile, not sure why I guess I find other sites easier to navigate.
I am impressed with the honesty and the way they are going about closing down.

WHAT THE HECK! Excellent authors, excellent stories and most importantly excellent BOOK COVERS. Oh, my! We'll be losing a hell of a publishing house/company. It is a really disheartening news. :| :| :|
