Oooo...I like that idea! It's really too bad that about the only time we get something like a "director's cut" in non-self-published ebooks is when an author re-releases a popular book with a new publisher and revises it extensively.

I recall Lynne Connolly (writing her paranormal series as L.M. Connolly now) saying that when she revised the Ecstasy in Red books this summer she went "lower on the sex, higher on the action" so presumably she had to add in the extra sex scenes originally because EC demanded them. In re-reading both versions of the series (second first then the originals), I did find the second versions much more gripping and memorable even though I had enjoyed the first versions as well when they were initially released. That could have been due to the author's abilities maturing over the six or so years since they were written but I think it was also because the narrative flowed better without all of the gratuitous sex.

I did find your descriptions of Celete, Black and Cullinan and their writing intriguing and I'll have to check them out. Thank you for the recommendations.

I usually prefer books with less sex scenes than full of them. It gets repetitive and I tend to skim them. And it´s annoying. Not so long ago I started to read a book only to finish it in super speed, not many actual plot in here :-).

i used to read them but after reading so much fanfiction (m/m, f/f, f/m, whichever) i just skip them in books now. they bore me even if they are hot.

I skip them all, they do nothing for the story line!

Every now and then I skip them. Sometimes I feel they're not there for anything other than word count and it's actually quite boring and painful to read. Right now the book I'm reading is okay and I'm enjoying them but the book before this I just skipped them all to get back to the storyline.

I'm sorry, but these days I just skip the sex scenes. I started reading M/M books with Lynn Hagen & Stormy Glenn - and both of them write really funny sex scenes. These days if a book contains as much sex as their books does, I get really irritated fast and will probably skip the book altogether.
What really makes me stop reading a book is when it starts with a guy/girl waking up with a stranger, or if a character had hundreds of bed partners and think it's normal.
People like that are called sluts, and yes it applies to men as well as women.

This is why I simply love Kirby Crow's Scarlet and the White Wolf & Mell Eight's - Supernatural Consultant series.
Unfortunately I'm having a really hard time finding books similar to them.
I don't mind the sex, but I just don't want to skip more than half the book, Jordan L. Hawke's Whyborne & Griffin are great because the story is great that the sex scenes just isn't a bother.
Lynn Hagen & Stormy Glenn books simply irritate me now most of the time.
Marcy Jacks books are just a no-no for me now.

I tend to skip too if I find the scene too long ( no pun intended :P).

Having said that, there are a couple I really find hot and steamy like Ava March, Bonnie Dee, Kay Simone, which comes to mind.

Kay's bonus book, 02The Billionaire The Back Booth, to the main novel, the company we keep,......it is hot!

The other one I find hot but short sex scenes would be Bonnie Dee's Jungle Heat.

Most of them i just skip, unless i really get into the book, and then there is no stopping me... :)

I just skim them for dialogue. I too would rather a really great plot, then too many sex scenes, especially when one of the guys has 2 or 3 orgasms. Yeah, uh huh. I also hate books that are less than 100 pages because it feels like that's all the book is for. A couple meet, have sex, fall in love in two days. Give me a book with 300 or more pages of story and I'm happy girl.

I just overlook, them; unless they are used in a constructive manner...

I still read them. I feel like most of the F/F books I read don't go very heavy on the sex anyway. I don't think I ever read one that even game close to being gratuitous.
