Some of you are still struggling with the conversion of PDF; into a decent conversion

Try these wee apps below and just follow the instructions within :)

With the Mobi pocket it takes a bit of fiddling around until it suits you ..... please make sure you use the 'No compression" or you will end up half way through with eg: "page 4 running after page 102"

The best way to convert a PDF is to use Mobipocket Creator. It takes out all of the page breaks, headers and footers, leaving a well formatted MOBI (PRC file) behind. then just pop it into Calibre and away you go with a decent ePUB

Try them, they're all free.

Calibre: http://calibre-ebook.com/

Make sure that you download the Publisher's Edition, not the Home Edition.

Thanks to Zackddog for readable instructions :)

Hey Lee - where can we find these instructions by Zackdog? All I get when I import the pdf is an html file, no prc in sight. And yeah - I did dl the Publisher version. :/

In the "Import from existing file ...use the Adobe PDF ..press on that ...browse for the file ... press import - hightlight the square and then click on build --- make sure there is no compression -- click on the build below the No Encryption ... then press Ok --- another page will come up ...find the PRC file :)

That is the one you drop into calibre

Hope this is understandable :)

Ahhh...that works! I didn't realize I had to build it - thought it was made during the import process. :)

Ok....that makes epub files that are workable to clean up. Thanks for clearing it up for me!

It certainly does ..but it is still far more readable than without the MobiPocket lol

The thing I feel is, if you want retail quality ... then purchasing it will get it for you, without a lot of work :) ....even then, I have had copies that leave a lot to be desired

Another suggestion is that if you have time - sometimes for troublesome files i will crop the PDF page - and then save as a word file from full acrobat. This file is usually cleaner and easier to convert with Calibre
