I recently created a list on Goodreads for LGBT YA fiction set in small towns! I'd love some more recommendations or additions.

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/106196.Small_Town_LGBT_YA_Fiction

As a lesbian from a small town (who came out in high school, no less), reading Far from Xanadu by Julie Anne Peters was amazing. Most stories with lesbians take place in large cities. Small town gays are rarely acknowledged, let alone gay girls and women who aren't considered feminine or conventionally attractive! I know there are people out there who would be interested in reading honest representations of LGBT lives in small towns. There have been some good additions already, but I'm always looking for more. :)

Sorry for bumping an old topic but I just came to check the forum and found this great list. Thank you so much, I love that topic and it seems I haven't read any of the books listed. Thank you!

Nothing in the forum is ever an "old topic"...that's why we are here to share info among like minded wonderful people :)

I have actually come across quite a few lesbian books that take place in "small towns". For example: The Secret Pond by Gerri Hill; Madison's Way by Adelaide Schofield; Incident at Elder Creek by Anna Furtado; Painted Moon by Karin Kallmaker; Jericho by Ann McMan; Aftermath by Ann McMan; How Sweet It Is by Melissa Brayden; The Journey Home by K'Anne Meinel; A Matter of Convenience by Natalie Vivien; Jenna's Awakening and Jenna's Closure by Missy Redstone; Aspen's Stunt by Melissa Grace; Bittersweet Homecoming by Eliza Lentzski; Small Town Angel by K'Anne Meinel; Time for Terri by Roslyn Bane; Love Bites by Lila Bruce; Poppy Jenkins by Clare Ashton; The Last of the Loudens by Robin Alexander; Strawberry Summer by Melissa Brayden; More Than a Song by Chris Paynter; The Crossing of Bridges by Summer Munger; You Make Me Tremble by Kris Walsh; Echo Point by Virginia Hale; Perfect Rhythm by JAE

Thanks for this list! I only read a handful on it, but I'll look into the others ones. I'm not a fan of Julie Anne Peters, I read one book, and couldn't finish the second, so, I think I'll pass on her books. And I'll also check HBloomie's selection. I've read 90% of Gerri Hill's work (I must have missed The Secret Pond), but she's not doing YA fiction though.

If I Tell You by Alicia Tuckerman is a wlw/ff lgbt book set in a small town in Australia. I read it recently and quite enjoyed it. Just in case anyone was interested in another recommendation.

I thought of a couple of others to add to the list:
Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Jaye Robin Brown
Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Leah on The Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

(I could've sworn I had more, but my brain just doesn't want to remember and my goodreads page isn't helping right now, sadly)
