How many of you have searched for either a 'Gay' or 'Lesbian' book on Amazon only to find all books in the LGBT genre? I have Amazon Prime and every month I am able to read one free book. When I go to the "Kindle Owners' Lending Library" and 'Refine' by 'Subcategory', the closest I can get is category: 'Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender'. Why do they not get (or care) that this LGBT&Q category needs to be further subdivided? When I am looking for a "lesbian" fiction book it takes forever to wade through all the other books to just find a lesbian title.

Apps are the same. I downloaded a book app (bookgorilla) that I liked except for that same issue. I could only choose the category 'LGBT' books.

Does anyone else find that annoying?

Do you use another Amazon than .com? Apparently there is a difference between the sub-sites of Amazon. In the .com one I choose --> Kindle ebooks --> LGBT --> and then I have:

Biographies & Memoirs
Comics & Graphic Novels
Drama & Plays
Erotica
LGBT Studies
Literary Criticism
Literature & Fiction
Mystery & Detective
Poetry
Politics
Romance
Science Fiction & Fantasy
Travel
:D

Also if you use .com, here's two fantastic links:

Free reads -> gay -> erotica

Free reads -> gay -> fiction

I am confused (smaakage40) ... are you searching for books on your Kindle or the Amazon web site? My comment was all based on searching with my Kindle where I cannot specify strictly lesbian fiction. A few days ago, I searched with my Kindle (to get my one free December read) and got well over 600 hits. However, only about 10% were actually lesbian fiction. I can, however, type in the name of an author then choose their books one-by-one to see if they are available for a free read.

I was aware of the AMAZON HOT NEW RELEASES page. It is great for seeing what is coming up or just arrived but it does not say that any of these books will be available to borrow for my one free read per month. I don't see that unless I search with my Kindle and choose a book. Then I have the option to either buy or borrow the book but borrowing is most often not an option.

Are you familiar with Amazon Prime?

Thanks for the links ... others might find them useful for shopping online. :)

Sorry, couldn't read that it was your Kindle you used. I based my answer on a computer.

You are right. Amazon doesn't categories the difference between LGBTQ books, they group them all together. What I do is find a book I already read, search it on Amazon, click it, and look at the recommendations. They make some pretty good recommendations, but they are not all great. If someone is trying to find new books just by browsing the LGBTQ category, you won’t find anything you’re looking for. It’s a shame.

That's a great point. I really hate how they lump everything in as the same.

It's the same with say, Netflicks or other content providers as well. The selection is small enough as it is and then it's all the same.
