hello! i'm not exactly new to m/m novels but not widely read either, and i'd like to ask for some recommendations of a similar-to vein.
most of these are fantasy or historical, but actually there's no restrictions on the setting - i'm angling more for authors with the same or higher writing quality, who write in the same way, not necessarily authors who write about exactly the same things.
here's a list of authors i've enjoyed:
on the flip side, some established authors might not be for me. i've tried josh lanyon's adrien english series 1&2 but the pacing and mysteries, plus jake, weren't exactly my thing. i've just started mary calmes' matter of time book 1 and the writing is rough imo?
so please, hit me with your recs. and we can talk about what we liked and disliked to refine our recs more.

- kj charles: probably most known for the magpie series but like her other stuff just as much if not more tbh, especially protags with more unusual jobs - i like how she works with historical england in general.
cs pacat: captive prince aka dat slow burn! delicious character development. i also like how it has political intrigue, rooftop chases, swordfights, war battles, etc. i like a nice overarching plot outside romance.
amy rae durreson: the reawakening series. i like the scope of this one, that it has many various vibrant characters, including many awesome women. and dragons. i also enjoyed her other books.
jordan l. hawk: some of the widdershins books' plot structure is redundant, but i like that the main couple grow together through the books (their relationships with others, too), that again it has a bigger plot, and how quirky the town is. her hexworld is also fun.
alexis hall: i enjoyed the prosperity books (yay for things like phlogiston, and beasties in the skies) and the for real book, and will make my way through more
