I've been reading my entire life, and most of that has been sci-fi or fantasy in some form or another. I'm not sure when, but at some point I got frustrated with male protagonists (afab myself) and switched to only reading female-centered books . This had the unfortunate side effect of drastically increasing the amount of (heterosexual) romance I consumed. When I came out, it became harder and harder to enjoy these heterosexual romances and the books they were in. So now, I'm limited to fantasy/sci-fi books with lesbian main characters. And, because age never stops ruining things, I can't enjoy books with teenagers anymore either, because I'm simply Too Old. I'm finding myself really struggling to find books that fit these parameters (sci-fi/fantasy with adult lesbian protagonist) that also engage me and draw me in. For reference, I really love Ilona Andrews, Seanan McGuire, and Holly Black but afaik their body of work is tragically heterosexual.
How do you find works/authors that fit your parameters? What parameters do you use? I will gladly take any and all advice, but also just having someone to talk to about this would be nice too.
