What is the worst book you ever read? Did you finish it?

Can't for the life of me remember the title but it was so bad that i didn't finish the first chapter, it went something like this : a girl is at her best friend's funeral, one second she's crying her eyes out, and then the second that follows she stumbles into this guy (who just happens to be gorgeous and tall and dark and have intense eyes.....) and she's in heat.

How can you sensibly write down this kind of situation ?
Simple, you don't. At least, not with using the word ''blaze'' O_O

Apart from 50 Shades, which I HAD to complete as part of a bet (I have cruel friends) :
Beautiful Disaster by NOT ALLOWED
UGH. That. Book.

It is a ridiculous story, with severely idiotic characters. No really, you want to slap them every other page. (With the exception of that one character who the protagonists keep bitching about.)
It's a (completely deranged) romance with a heroine who is the standard definition of TSTL and a hero who's PERFECT(ly mental)

I did finish it, hoping against all hope that it would get better. I really wish I hadn't.

It's hard to think of the worst ever, but the 'worst recent' for me was Chili Con Corpses by J.B. Stanley.

All the characters seemed to be obsessed with eating green salads and drinking filtered water to the point that their conversations dealt with nothing else. I have no idea of the plot as I gave up on it at the 10% mark on my Kindle. For the sake of the book I refused to give up before then, which was something of a mistake.

It used to be that you had to capture the reader in the first few pages, then on the first page, then you had to have an arresting first paragraph, and there are lists of memorable opening lines. That 10% mark could not come quick enough for me with this book.

I don't normally finish books I hate. The only one I can think of in ya is, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. UGH. I couldn't stand Patch and Nora was a total idiot.

I can normally find good in most books but I couldn't get past some of the stuff in 50 Shades of Gray. In the past I would have made myself finish a book because I paid a lot of money for it (paper books). Since I've found this site, I have the luxury of not finishing a book if it isn't any good. I'm so thankfully for this site. My daughter read 6 books last week because there wasn't any school and she was grounded. :)

Okay so I just finished reading a book called The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. Horrible book. I just could not get into it but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and finished the book. : /

I have the compulsive need to finish a book once I started reading it but even this couldn't make me finish the first Twilight book. Atrocious.

Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi. It is a terrible revamping of the classic Little Fuzzy by H Beam Piper. Scalzi poorly kept the main theme but destroyed the characters that made the original Piper story a pleasant read.

[Full disclosure: I really haven't liked anything I've read by Scalzi .]

I didn't get past 30% of Fifty Shades - I'm still in awe of how many people Love This Book with capital letters. I blame it for killing the romance section too. I'm mean, I shove Anne Rice's Beauty series at the 50 Shades lovers.

Finished the first Twilight book, but don't get the hype. I'm team "don't make me deal with this".

The utter worst book I've EVER read is Always You by Kristy Moseley. It's unbelievable, has the stupidest characters I've EVER EVER seen and it's poorly written to boot. I finished it for sheer WTF value and made three of my friends read it so we could all sit down and say WHY WHY WHY.

Perhaps I should share it in the YA section and make a note to only read if you're a masochist.

One of the Worst I ever read- tried to read, as I didn't finish it - was that absolute piece of garbage 50 Shades Of Grey. The heroine was TSTL and the dude a psychotic sadistic douche bag.

Another bad book was The Twilight Saga's New Moon. 300 pages of the heroine pining after a dead guy who dumped her. She finds love and he then her vampire bo comes back and shes all like " I'm yours again". I mean no freakin' dignity. Idk if he was trying to protect you.
