I think the movie did a really great job. I was able to feel all the feels I felt while reading the book. But you're entitled to your own opinion, though. :)

I enjoyed the movie, it completely broke me. I didn't rate the book highly and the movie was a lovely surprise with a very good cast.

Well, I prefer the book. The movie was not as good as the book.

I liked both the book and the movie, but the book was definitely more heart-wrenching than the movie ever could be.

The movie I think was good for those who had not read the book at first. By reading the book I had too many expectations on what I felt was important and should not be glossed over or ignored. The movie almost had a light hearted feel to it at times instead of the extreme emotions invoked in the book. it really frustrated me to the point i wouldn't buy the movie lol.

The movie justified the book in a way but it wasn't nearly satisfying as the book. Probably because after reading the book you already know what happens.

I enjoyed them both. Of course movies tend to not be as thorough as books (they only have so much they can cover in the time-span), so I try to be open-minded when making comparisons. I think the movie did a great job portraying the story. I read the book first and it was nearly impossible to get through with tears because I couldn't see the pages after a while. The book was just amazing. They did an exceptional job with the movie, but I'll always prefer the book because of not only the additional details but also images conveyed in the imagination that just can't be reproduced on screen. That said, sometimes I'll read a book and say "I wonder how this would be if I saw it, if the story was brought to life?" Sometimes I just like to read and watch the same story, just to compare notes. If you enjoy a story, why not get it both ways? :) I never consider a book to be ruined if a movie is not up to par, I just realize that sometimes movies don't live up to expectations of their inspirations. Sometimes I will treat them with fresh eyes as new stories or new perspectives. In this case I didn't need to since it was close to the essence of the book, though :)

copout, but i'm always like this, BOTH. I see them as different things. I liked the book. I liked the movie. they're separate, but one comes from the other so same story. idk that's how I try to look at it so I enjoy them both lol.
