Google changed something in Youtube API and apps like PVSTAR+ no longer work, any alternatives that work and i can listen in youtube songs while i have my phone locked?

Use YouTube Vanced, it`s just youtube but with background play support and no video ads.
Best open source alternative: NewPipe. Allows downloading and is FOSS.
For Music : YMusic is my go-to. Cab listen to everything on YouTube in audio format. Also allows downloading.
All the apps mentiond r free.
