Hello;

I recently purchased ASUS TF700T-B1-GR 10.1-Inch Tablet running the Android OS. It's not my first tablet; I have the original Kindle Fire and also an Android phone; but I am finding that the battery life on this is awful. Even when it's resting and not in use, the battery is draining so that it has to be charged every evening, even if I didn't use it during the day. I do have Advanced Task Killer on it but it's not helping. Does anyone have any suggestions of apps to help extend the battery life?

Juice Defender Ultimate and/or CPU Tuner to automatically switch off and adjust device settings. I say and because you cannot use some features of Juice Defender on some ROMs/devices most noteably switching to 2G data connection.

Also looked at the battery menu in settings to see what is draining it the most and either remove or adjust it, then the second most etc.

Change CPU speed and governers (what governers are available varies between kernels) - the usual default is ondemand which provides high performance but high battery drain. You can automate these settings depending on what's running using apps like CPU Tuner (I think) or SetCPU (which I use). Good settings for speeds/governers can be found on XDA Developers.

And finally there is often differences in battery use between ROMS if you're comfortable with flashing your device (and if you can).

Battery monitoring software do not _extend_ your battery life. On the contrary, it reduces it, due to the wakelocks it has on the cpu due to constant monitoring.
The better thing you can do is

1. Use Better Battery Stats to monitor if something or the other is heavily using your cpu - for a while. If you don't find anything, uninstall it.
For me, this solved the problem once. A corrupt media file was causing the mediascanner service to use the cpu full time and thereby reducing the battery life.

2. Do not install lots of Free* software.
Again, contrary to popular belief - Free software isn't always free. The Ads system used by different software causes heavy load on the cpu and network causing battery drain. This is _one_ of the reasons that people use _pirated_ software ;P

3. Ignore the TaskKillers
Task Killers aren't that necessary for Android . Actually, the android phone already has a build in taskkiller. Using it regularly only puts more load on the CPU by reloading everything every time you open an app, instead of using cached portions from the previous run. It will make the phone slow and use more resources.

4. If you are able, use a custom ROM. Most are battery friendly and some have Battery friendly power profiles.

5. If you are travelling, chances are you will be passing a lot of cell towers and the constant searching for the network can also take a toll on the battery. If you can, put it in airplane mode.

Well, that's all folks ;)
