ProQuest Extends LC Partnership; Reveals Details About New Ebook Platform

ProQuest became a partner in the Library of Congress’ (LC) Electronic Cataloging in Publication (ECIP) and BIBCO programs, allowing the company to assist in preparing prepublication metadata for digital products and monographs that conform to the LC’s standards. ProQuest also works with the LC to offer help in its U.S. ISSN Center, and it is the library’s official off-site repository for its collection of American dissertations.

Additionally, ProQuest announced the name of its new ebook platform: ProQuest Ebook Central. It will launch in mid-2015 with an integration of key elements from both ebrary and EBL (Ebook Library), as well as with all-new functionality, including user-centered design for improved ebook research and management experiences from end to end. The device-neutral reader will be based on ebrary's and will incorporate patron requirements from title discovery to the bookshelf.
