DUNSMUIR - After many devout years of writing, and three novels down, Dunsmuir native Rebecca Lee achieved a silver medal at the fifth annual Global eBook Awards.
Her first published novel and silver medalist, “All My Love, from the Land of Morning Calm” is 526 pages of fiction, based on early portions of her and her sister’s lives.
When Lee’s sister came back from South Korea, she always wondered what would have happened if she stayed. This book tells the tale.
Why South Korea? Lee explained that other than her sister’s experiences, Lee has an interest in Korean television shows and cinema.
While Lee has lived and worked in many places, she finally came back to Dunsmuir in 2010.
With deep roots already instilled, she made her life in her childhood home in Dunsmuir.
Lee has been writing her entire life.
“I love the idea of putting words together,” she said.
After two novels being published was surreal for Lee.
“I was thrilled and honored,” Lee said.
Lee said the awards program boasted a panel of 200 judges in more than 75 categories.
“The novel has been a two-year work of love in the company of characters who have etched a place in her memory, or those she would like to one day meet, and a realization of a long-awaited achievement,” Lee said.
Lee’s prequel/sequel, “Hello Again, from The Land of Morning Calm,” is expected in late 2015, and will finish where her first novel left off.
