Profiling stories of innovation at the state, county and municipal level has been a top priority for GovExec State & Local since we launched this summer—and it will remain a top priority going forward.

Across the nation, government practitioners in state capitols, city halls, and county administration buildings are finding innovative ways to provide services, develop new programs, assess challenges and implement new technologies.

We featured some of those stories in “Innovation in Action” in September.

For “Innovation in Action, Volume 2,” GovExec State & Local Senior Editor Michael Grass assembled a group of five additional stories from across the nation—Arkansas, Houston, New Jersey, North Carolina and Seattle—on a variety of topics along the theme of innovation, digging into issues like open data, strategic budgeting, digital privacy, broadband access and emergency medical response.
