Hi, I've been looking for a series about a female forensic expert (or medical doctor but I'm almost 100% positive it was a forensic expert) who during the course of the series stops to work for the government and starts working as an independent consultant, even starts her own company in a multi floor building and investigates crimes. At one point her daughter who is a computer expert joins the company, as well as the (second?) husband. Also, I think the daughter turns out to be either bisexual or lesbian but that's just a background part of a character, definitely not the focus of the books or even important for the storylines. And last but not least I seem to remember the daughter used to work for an organization like the FBI, CIA, army, something like that, but that's where my memory definitely starts to fail me.

I started reading the Temperance Brennan books by Kathy Reichs (and quite enjoyed them  ) but those are definitely not the ones I'm searching for.

Keeping my fingers crossed this is enough for someone to come up with an author, title or anything :)

Maybe the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell?

Yes it does sound like the Kay scarpetta series. She's a medical examiner who has worked with the FBI. There's a niece who's bi/lesbian.

Thank so much, both of you!
I'm going to check it out right now :)
