I read a book in high school, 20 or so years ago. I can't remember the title or author. I've tried googling to no avail. The basic premise of the book was the main character had (escaped/moved?) to the US either during, or post WWII. He had family that remained in Germany. After many many years in US, he must return to Germany due to a death in the family. His family abroad believes he is a wealthy man, however, times were tough for the old man and he had little money. He wanted to make an impression on them as though things were well in the US upon his return. I think the title contains the word Rich or Poor but can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.
It was fiction. The setting was definitely post WWII, years after WWII, just not sure how many years after.
