I have been trying to remember this series title for months now and cannot for the life of me remember its title. I am pretty sure it is a series of 3-4 books and I think were written in the mid 80's early 90's I cant even remember the author's name because I read them so long ago. It would probably be in the High Fantasy and or Epic Fantasy genre and closely follows plots from Books like
The Magister Series by C.S. Freidman
The Empress by Karen Miller
Its about a Girl who lives in a tribal Village setting that is protected by a group of Mages named crow mothers? raven mothers? (I'm not entirely sure) that live in a giant wall? and are much more advanced then they are in terms of technology. During a very long and very bad winter they are attacked by an army of nomads and at first they they try to defend there village but fail horribly. The girl is the only survivor and has to flee to the wall where she meets the mages and gets taken under their tutoring. where they discover that she is to strong and to angry to be left alone.
After that I remember her in Book 2 or Book 3 having to Stamp a rebellion started by a group of men called The Merchants and how the series ends with her Flying a giant Wooden Ship? to outer space.
If this sounds familiar at all or you actually know the series Please let me know I would very much Appreciate it. Because I'm starting to think this is all in my head but I could have swore it was a series of books.
