Some time ago iwe read some books about some boy.. he stops some evil dude using supercomputer made of brains from planets population or something like that.
Later turns out that evil dude was selling information to spacefaring civilisations and used these brains to solve alien questions.... that same boy in book helps some aliens who later decide he should come with them.
In second book ? he goes with them but they are attacked by someone and he uses evacuation pod and ends up stranded on some planet where he joins mercenaries. There he helps in some space battle affecting outcome, finaly reuniting with first aliens
After he rejoins first aliens he there disarms some nuclear bomb in some court... ahh yeah there is also mentioned somewhere that sometimes some civilisation start sudden change and techonolgy leap, or ascend
