Good to know.
So can someone who's also a member there tell Riu to release a Tablet Mod? i.e. v4.2.0739 which I'm still using.

Spotify uses a unified apk file for phone and tablet.

To get tablet metrics you have to either have a device that natively uses dimensions that triggers Android to be in tablet mode.
Or you can do it manually per-app by take measure of your screens resolution and native dpi and then set the proper resolution and dpi with Xposed module App settings.

Nice!

This app should automate the process of editing the "prefs" file from:

audio.play_bitrate_enumeration=2 to audio.play_bitrate_enumeration=4 and vice versa to reset.

The file is located at:
"data/data/com.spotify.music/files/users/"your user"/prefs"
or
" /storage/emulated/Android/data/com.spotify.music/files/users/"your user"/prefs"
depending on your device.

And then changing the file permissions to read only so the Spotify app cannot reset and is forced to stream in highest quality.

I think it worked. I mean if I check the settings now it shows extreme but I'm not sure if it actually streams 320kbps mp3's.

Is there any trick like this for unlimited downloads? haha

I have made a rough test with a network monitor tool.

With the prefs file set at "audio.play_bitrate_enumeration=2" a 3:40 sec song uses about 4-6MB in total bandwith after the song has ended.
But with the file set at "audio.play_bitrate_enumeration=4" the same song uses about 45-50MB bandwith after the song has ended.

So I think there is some truth editing the file.
To mention with the above statement I do warn you. IF you use Spotify on mobile data. Do keep track of your bandwith use.
There is a big risk you might use it all up before the end of the month. Do the math.. if a playlist contains 20 modern songs that Spotify do have a high quality version to stream. The bandwith will skyrocket in no time.

But about the overall sound. I could not notice any difference with my Qualcomm S800 chipset. So I changed it back to 2.
And I keep my high quality .flac on my Rockboxed Ipod.
I dunnot know any Android device that has a good enough DAC and DSP to make it feasible to enjoy the sound of editing the file to 4.

wow, it really shouldn't be THAT much of a difference in size/
look at the sample pic here,320 is just like 2½ times bigger than 128, but not like 8 times as much/

The chart does not apply here because Spotify uses Ogg vorbis container to stream their audio to desktop and mobile clients.

That's pretty much the information you can get. There is not much to go on to draw a conclusion on why the file size scale this radically.

so what's the setting #2 in the preferences file?
if 4 = 320, is 2=160 or 96?
