OK, keep arguing with the mod and see what happens.

I installed this version on Android 4.2.2 since the protected apk module used is NOT compatible with Android 5.0 (my phone) ...and it looks to me ChromecastAudio is still reserved to premium Spotify members. I can't have access to it..... I believe this version is NOT fully connected - just to let know ...if other people can confirm it?! I will be happy to help and I can do test with my ChromecastAudio .... :)

Mr Dude, please consider to take off your added protected apk module ...it is NOT needed and not compatible with Android 5.0 (you know it)....just kindly ask moderator to give you credits when patches used by indelicate people are your's and do not give you proper credits. You desserve it ...your contribution to Mobilism forum is valuable. ;)

I've said many times that some versions of chromecast use their own spotify versions which is basically a chrome plugin which can be extracted from the firmware and patched, however you need root access to be able to do this - I have posted a modded binary on xda forums a while back. I'm not explaining all the tech details - but a modded apk on your phone/tablet can't modify your chromecast firmware - this needs to be done manually by you.

As for apk protection - NO I will not remove for the foreseeable future, if you wish you can use an older spotify version that's not protected or the other version posted by others on here.

@UndeadSquirrel - if you feel the need to delete all my spotify mods because of the login/splash screen - feel free as I'm not too fussed to be honest.

Honestly, if a user feels they've installed a malicious app because of a custom login mp4 on Spotify, then that user is very silly. That's because it's the users choice to use a modded APK of Spotify and acknowledge all the risks that come with that. In fact, MrDude could remove the mp4 but easily install a backdoor that grabs the username and password of every user logging into the app. The possibilities are endless. But he doesn't because he's a trusted member of the Mobilism community. I think everyone just needs to calm down and enjoy the hard work and be appreciative instead of being hostile.

It's as the saying goes - don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I didn't even notice the login screen is actually changed. IMO it's not intrusive and you only see it once on login anyway. Thanks mrdude.

Mr Dude's versions of Spotify are the only ones that work without issues for me. A little credit on screen doesn't bother me at all.

I was just refering to Chromecast Audio not Chromecast (video)... The option from Spotify menu is still in grey (ie no access to stream from this item)...Chromecast (video) is OK and I fully understand we can patch CC if we want filter ads. I have found using Buble UPnP was doing the trick with Chromecast Audio. I can do tests if you do not have a Chromecast Audio and want to find a way to fix that ....

As you said because of your protected apk module I will follow your advice (no choice) and use the other version - it means this other guy is still doing valuable work as it offers the only way to have Spotify with Android 5.0 ...not sure it was what you have in mind.

Hi everyone. I'm the new member, but I've got the big benefits from this forum from long time ago even though I didn't register member. Everyone who used their time to mod and up the apps is great. I appreciate it a lot. And the dispute between the credit of the mod is complicate. And I don't want to discuss about that. But here I got some personal experience to share with all of you about this Spotify program, about modded versions .
I listen to music quite a lot and I think I'm quite sensitive to the quality of the audio 'cause I got into audiophile quite long ago. I've try some modded version of the Spotify and I find that the quality of the sound doesn't exactly at the same level in those release. A lot of them let you chose the extreme mode, but the sound doesn't change, and even the sound in some version are hash, distorted when compare with the other, even the version release by the great ill420smoker. At that time I have to go back to the old version (I think the 3 or 2 series, I don't remember) because the sound of that version is much better. But after a while I can't login into that version any more so I quit using Spotify.
A few day a go, I tried to use Spotify again. I used the beta and final released by koumkouat, 6.3.0.882 v2 and 6.5.0.1816. That time I created a new nick and can get 7 days trial premium, so I can use extreme quality sound, but when I compared the sound between those choice, normal, high and extreme I found some difference but not much, and sometime I really don't sure if the sound is different (turn off all things like eq, normalize volume, gapless..). And I found that the sound in the beta versions is always more bright than in the final.
But now when I tried the 6.5.0.1816 final modded by mrdude, I found that the sound quality is much much better, and I can easily feel the difference between the quality of normal, high and extreme mode. But this time I can't get the free trial of spotify so I can't check between the modded version and the original one. So after all I want to confirm that the sound quality in those modded version is huge different, and this one by mrdude got the best sound quality.
I only confirm about the sound quality, because all the releasers are all great.

@motog123

That would be quite impossible, as the mod only "unlocks" the feature. It won't and can't possibly tamper with the feature.
I suppose you have to listen to two exact same tune/song to compare the quality of the sound.

@hkwildboy
I don't know. But I believe in my ears, I've done a lot of blind test of various audio qualities with quite various mid-end devices before. I think maybe some tweaks for other part may affect the sound, or maybe some tweak conflict with my device, I use MotoG with Cm12,13. But I think you can test the effect of extreme mode between this version vs komkat version vs high mode in the original. It's easy to notice and you'll find that mrdude version actually activate the extreme mode.

I agree to the point of: sound quality went better. I was sitting in front of my device and was thinking too: wow..something got better, i can hear it !
But i do not think: thats based on mrdudes changes inside the app, i think its reason why Spotify this one calls a final and not still beta.
Anyway, thank you for bring it in mrdude and waste your time and money for us.

Well, maybe Mr. Dude can confirm whether it's possible that the given both mod are only unlocking of the exterme quality feature, could there possibly be difference in sound quality, or is it just placebo effect.
I think the best qualified person to say that would be Mr. Dude. :)

In any case, we all thank Mr. Dude for his great work, that's for sure.

I'm new to this. What does the requirement of 4.0.3+ refer to and how do I know which of the 6 different download links I should use?
