Understand the earlier point made at me. Yes, I can tell the difference - I have a decent set-up and anything streamed at 128kbps is usually clipped down to 16khz. Doing online hearing tests, i can hear 17khz no problem and just about detect 18. Decent mp3 rips and Flac are usually 20 to 22khz (I think max for CD), so you get that 'breathing space' for your ears. 16 khz instantly sounds clipped and compressed to my ears - just not nice - and that's how Spotify has sounded for months now with previous 'extreme' releases on here.
I was simply asking a direct question, as uninstalling and setting up again is a bit of a pain and was of the assumption that just like the 'downloading for offline use' function being un-moddable (because it's server side), the Extreme stream change made by spotify would also be un-moddable for the same reason. Was just hoping for a quick conformation this is not the case. Thanks for the links and feedback anyway.
