From music players to sound recording

The original developer of this mod explicitly asks that it doesn't get re-hosted somewhere else. I am not sure why Nocna Furia insists on directly disregarding this again and again, but that is some shady shit. Folks, stop downloading it from OP's links. Here's the original source, and you can even follow up on the actual development and whatnot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/androi ... y-t3632423

Seriously, STOP RE-HOSTING THIS. Some replies are even implying there are viruses, so yeah. Don't be stupid and stop clicking on OP's links.

Are there specific tracks with which you can here the difference between the normal and extreme audio feature? I tried different tracks but did not here any difference, also tried frequency measurement software but in the higher frequency there seems to be no difference. Or the music I am trying does not the extreme audio versions available?

Thanks for answering in advance,

With kind regards,
Mad_Max

I'd agree and I don't tbh. On one hand, this guy is essentially cracking the app, so that puts him in a sightly different place than normal app devs as it relates to this community. On the other hand, he isn't hosting his project here (sorta a dumb move... he's gonna get shut down and/or sued by Spotify) so it feels like this is a bit more in-bounds... I mean, would we stop releasing an app if a developer posted "don't share this app" in the description on the Play Store, or another site? Obviously not. I dunno, I can see both sides.

Also, if OP hadn't released this app here and I hadn't read the comments, I wouldn't have known about that xda thread, so yeah... shades of grey I guess.

What's wrong with simply providing the XDA link, or the even more-so neutral github link(s)? (On that note, simply searching "spotify dogfood" in google gets you this as top result: https://github.com/sergiocastell/spotify-dogfood/releases. Neutral, safe, and updated directly by the original author, no need to re-upload with each new update.. why not just provide this link, instead of all the spammy, virus-ridden links from OP?) If original dev specifically requests his app not be re-uploaded, for whatever reason, it seems reasonable enough to follow those wishes. If Balatan or Koumkouat on here requested that their apks not be re-hosted, would we follow it? I get that what we're all here for is ethically/legally "grey area", but "honor among thieves" and all that good stuff.

I get what you're saying and yeah, a Google search finds it just fine, but I haven't bothered googling it in forever because I come here for my Spotify needs. Typically Spotify projects on xda get shut down, so I haven't had a reason to do so. And yes, I agree that posting a link would be fine too, but I'm not sure the mods would categorize it appropriately and it might slip through the cracks. If it would categorized normally, then I'd have to agree that there's no reason to post the rehosted file here.

The one thing I do think it bullshit is that the OP didn't link the source thread over at xda. Sorta bullshit that you had to do it for him.

Can anyone notice a difference between normal to extreme quality?
I wonder if the mod simply supresses the upgrade notice when selecting extreme quality

That has been answered again and again.
The ultimate answer, if you can't hear the difference yourself, and need someone else to tell you if it's good or bad, then why would you need to care.
Not meant to be sarcasm, but the plain truth. Think about it.
If you can't tell the difference between a $5000 Rolex and a $50 counterfeit yourself, why waste money or even bother to buy a real one?

Any kind of mod will bear a different signature, and will not be upgradable through Google Play
