I may experiment with a new account however gone back to stock play store version with my old account as I don`t want to be banned or my account to be closed as spotify obviously now know when you are using a modified apk

Uninstall any Spotify on phone you have and download this.

Connect to Singapore on a VPN on PC, then log in on web page.

Go to edit profile and change region to Singapore. Save changes.

Connect to Singapore VPN on phone, install modded app and log in.

Everything should now work. You can disconnect from VPN as it seems to work fine from there.

The only thing is there will be some recommendations on the home page in a different language here and there. I'd imagine this won't work forever, especially if you lose the VPN, but it will do for now.

Was banned...

But...Not necessary to use vpn on phone just change your profile location to hong kong (via hola or zenmate) on spotify via web. Then do a complete spotify (8.4 mod) wipe on phone, install dogfood (8.4) for example. Works. Btw, Don't be heartbroken about spotify, use the youtube app from here. Acts as music/video player.

Another alternative which I personally don't do, is to get 4-6 people and buy family plan for (14.99 cad). Works out to 15/6=2.50/monthly. I just can't bring myself to pay for anything. Sue me...

Use a VPN on your PC and login to your Spotify account via website.
Then install this mod Spotify on your device.
Use the same VPN country on your device to login.
Done.Play and enjoy the app.
I don't receive nothing in my mail from Spotify.
Cheers.

Where do you live? I think this affect mostly US and UK users.

The workaround does work, even if you are in the UK

I just wanted to come on here and thank all of you who said something about changing countries! Totally & Absolutely worked (finding a good VPN program with open country servers was hard)! With me living paycheck-to-paycheck with no room for expenditures for music services a month, I could only rely on this/these! I am so glad for the option still!

But beware everyone... I imagine if Spotify was able to restrict ALL modified .apk's (dogfood/this/etc.), not just dogfood's, then they really have the capability to detect when the user is using a modified app and might make true their warning in the emails! I imagine the only reason this method is slipping through the cracks is the "Terms & Conditions of Usage" primarily applies to U.S. and not internationally necessarily (this could easily be changed & "rectified"). In any case, I just didn't want to lose my playlists and can imagine making a new account if necessary -- to me, it's worth creating all my playlists and selections for customizations of Release Radar & Daily Mix to be able to have Spotify the way it is/always was now. Because of this reason, I can simply just copy/convert my Spotify playlist and save the "carbon copy" and I'll re-create it if necessary... So, if anyone insists on still doing this (like me), I seriously and highly suggest backing your stuff up in forewarning Spotify will ban & delete you.

They really took their time with blocking mods... Well let see what the future brings.
So long:
I use a sec. account for using modded spotify right now.
On PC I use adguard to block ads from client. (Hosts file or EZBlocker should work too)
And for backing up my playlists I can recommend some of the playlist converters found in the net:
http://www.playlistbuddy.com/
http://www.playlist-converter.net/
https://soundiiz.com/

I belive I used soundiiz already to create a youtube playlist from spotify playlist I was working on a long time, was a really nice solution and worked great.

Uninstall the version you have on your phone.
Then install an official version from the play store.
