Spotify don't want this feature on Android OS versions below marshmallow - Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= 23

Now we can force this so it works, but it could cause unforeseen issues with the software - hence it's not been patched in this release. So that's the reason it's working for some and not for others (apart from people not clearing their cache/data).

Which android version are you running? Thinking about rooting this phone to get the best of mods.. I kind of miss xposed

I`m getting the "Spotify has stopped" pop up still. Before installing this mod I deleted the cache and data before uninstalling the old one. Then I downloaded and installed the new one. Any suggestions on how to fix this since I`m in the minority of still getting this issue? I`m using a Pixel 2 XL.

I found a couple of major bugs:
-Single releases wont appear in the artist page.
-The whole ui looks messy and the songs names look kind of grayed out.

Using normal version mod on Azumi Ultra with kitkat 4.4.2

Same happens to me, I use normal mod on LineageOS 14.1 Nougat on a Moto G 3rd generation. Anyway, it doesn't bother me at all. I think this mod is great, thanks MrDude and Balatan!

Do I need a VPN to register if I'm located in a country where Spotify is not available?

Yes you would require. You would require to activate the VPN during the login process, then close the app turn off VPN and then 8t should work normally without VPN. Only use VPN for the initial login process.

One question: I've used mods from here without any major issues for a long time.

Today I tried to cast to my Sony sound system for the first time via Google cast and I heard audio adverts. Is it possible to have this too removed?

I've been using the google home - to cast spotify to my google home smart speaker (not using spotify connect), been using it all day with zero ads on a non premium account.

I've rooted my phone, installed xposed module and bubbleupnp (not sure if you need that though), basically the stream gets captured and sent to the speaker, but instead up using bubbleupnp to cast - I use google home app.

I run spotify first - then go to the google home app to cast the audio:

I've removed xposed module and bubbleupnp from my device - rebooted - so no need for these.

You just need Google home app + spotify. Open spotify and select a song, open google home app and cast to your speaker (if it supports casting).

That way it isn't loading it's own spotify binary or being controller by your phone/tablet via spotify connect - it's just receiving a stream, which is probably going to be higher quality and have a better range than from Bluetooth.

Use Bluetooth, if casting doesn't work.

Don't bother, an over-ride patch has been created and will be added to the next release. The only thing about this is the icon will show up even if your device doesn't support it.

Just got a Spotify has stopped message. I'd like to demand a full refund or I'll submit a case to the warez Ombudsman.

(On a serious note - so far so good other than that message on the Alt mod, I rather like it's minimalist look)

It's mostly UI related, until this release there's only been one. From what I gather Mrdude has uncovered these hidden versions himself and has given us the choice to grab whatever best suites our circumstances. If you just want hacked Spotify grab the normal one, if you want something a bit different and novelty try the others.

I think it's cool that we've got the choice. Goes beyond just unlocking a couple of things, this app has been broken wide open and those of us who like modded stuff but can't code / RE can appreciate the effort the guys here have gone to providing this for us.
