Is it just me or does this version suck compared to old versions? I can`t choose specific songs in a playlist, I get a preview instead, I can only shuffle playlists. Is there an option I`m not seeing? What`s the advantage of this over 8.4?

Yeah that happens when you enable/disable `recently played artists` and `listening activity` option in settings. You must have changed it after installing the app.

I didn't change a setting but I was on a version where that setting wasn't there, it must have defaulted to it, thank you

I haven`t tried this version yet but Many previous versions suck. I found an old version that does keep crashing..

I found that my voice search was blocked by adguard, when I turn it off then voice search works

Edit: I added a filter for Spotify in adguard and it works all the time now

Edit 2: Just wish there was a way to not have ads when streaming to google home without a pihole or router ad filter

This question has been asked and answered hundreds of times -- the answer is always the same....NO - this app has nothing to do with the software on google home. Streaming comes direct from Spotify -- not from the app. If you want ad free on your Google use the CAST icon on your device (not spotify connect), or use bluetooth.


As for people asking about the premium icon - can it be removed.....yes it can, however it won't be removed in this version - it's making a point that you are FREE users, and it shows you what the app is giving you for free - that way when people complain about certain things not being available - they can be reminded they are not paying for a premium account.



Maybe this will be patched in future versions - but not for now....also if you can't login - just make a new Spotify account using a VPN and set to UK, if you still can't login - maybe the universe is trying to tell you something!

Unfortunately, Voice Search isn't working (for me). When I press the Mic button, it immediately shows "I didn't catch that. Try saying an artist, song, or playlist name." without even showing the window for listening to voice command. I have given all permissions.

Use your device for a while, about 1/2 hour or so first. Before that just say something like 'rihanna' without a song name, after about 1/2 hour a token will be sent to your device - then try 'rihanna rude boy', then it should start working. That's what works for me. Once you have that token it should work fine all the time (unless you reinstall).

Edit: Fixed it. Adguard was to blame.

If it doesnt work for you:
Install, login, and reboot. It will only allow shuffleplay until reboot
If it evee quits working, just clear cache and data and do it over again and works again.

I found that my voice search was blocked by adguard, when I turn it off then voice search works
