Just curious, Why would anyone want to UPGRADE to ADS?

You upgrade to free subscription.. Which isnt free, the application has banner advertisements.. They come as a part of the publication, like all newspapers do, whether you subscribe to it or.not. You can however remove the advertisements by using add block.
