Radu cel Frumos, or Radu the Beautiful/Fair/Handsome was the son of the Voivode of Wallachia, Vlad Dracul, the Dragon.
His more famous sibling is Vlad Dracula, the Impaler. "Dracula" actually means the Dragon's son but people also started calling him the Devil's Son later on due to...his methods of imparting Justice and killing enemies.
Radu was sent along with his elder brother Vlad to the Ottoman Sultan at a very young age as a guarantee of their father's loyalty to the Sultan. They both grew up in the Ottoman Empire as royal hostages and received a high quality education there.
But then the Dragon was found guilty of rebelling and conspiring against the Ottoman Empire and lost his life fighting for Wallachia. The throne of the Voivode was empty, and the Sultan sent the elder Dracula, Vlad as the contender for the Wallachian throne from the Ottoman side. But, instead of sending Radu with him the Sultan kept him on as a hostage.
It is said that while growing up, Radu gained the friendship of the Sultan's son and future Sultan, Mehmet. It is also often said that they were more than just friends.
Vlad Dracula had multiple reigns over Wallachia and was the sworn enemy of the Ottomans, unlike Radu. Vlad is said to have impaled and put on display ~10 thousand or so Ottoman soldiers, creating "the Forest of the Impaled" and deterring the invading Ottoman army.
Radu's life is overshadowed by his brother's... more interesting one, but Radu himself was the Voivode of Wallachia among the many struggles for the throne in Wallachia.
The cause of his death is unclear but it is said he died due to a then rare and mostly unknown disease.
