For our Thursday Night Football edition, we looked at a game between two equally matched American North Division Teams. To win, we had to make two predictions — who would win the game and whether the total points scored would be OVER or UNDER the target of 44.5
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals
The Ravens needed just one stop against the Bengals in Week 17 to make the playoffs last season, but on fourth-and-12 with under a minute left to play, Baltimore allowed a 49-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton to Tyler Boyd that ended its postseason hopes.
Moments like those aren't easily forgotten — Ravens players said the sight of Boyd dashing toward the end zone stings eight months later. A victory over the Bengals on Thursday night would have meant sweet revenge and also given the Ravens their third straight 2-0 start to a season…but, it was not to be.
Ravens gave up three touchdowns to A.J. Green in the first 17 minutes of the game and had a disastrous first quarter -- from Joe Flacco's interception deep in Baltimore territory to C.J. Mosley's knee injury to the inability to cover A.J. Green. Heading into halftime Bengals led 28-14 ... a late comeback by the Ravens in the second half narrowed the gap but the Bengals finally emerged victorious.
Cincinnati got four touchdown passes from Andy Dalton and three takeaways of Joe Flacco to beat the Ravens 34-23.
Bengals improve to 2-0, while Ravens drop to 1-1.
Bengals were the winners tonight, and the total points scored was well over the 44.5 target.
