SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #386
CANADA VS. USA Three Canadian NHL teams faced off against three American Teams. So for this edition of CANADA VS. USA all we had to predict was which country would win the most games.
GAME ONEOttawa Senators at Pittsburgh Penguins
Senators felt the rust after a long layoff as the Penguins handed them a 3rd straight loss. Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel each scored twice and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators 5-3 on Friday night. Teddy Blueger got his first NHL goal and Casey DeSmith stopped 37 shots as the Penguins won their second straight after losing four of their previous five.
GAME TWOCalgary Flames at Washington Capitals
Evgeny Kuznetsov scored a power-play goal with 57 seconds left, and the Washington Capitals shook off the absence of suspended star Alex Ovechkin to end a seven-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night.
GAME THREEToronto Maple Leafs at Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings emerged from an extended break with fresh legs and plenty of jump. They outplayed a Toronto Maple Leafs team with a far superior record and talent from start to finish and were rewarded for their effort. Danny DeKeyser scored with 2:19 remaining in overtime to lift the Red Wings to a 3-2 victory at Little Caesars Arena.
Since the Americans won 3 out of the 3 games, USA was the right pick.
