For our Monday NBA action, we looked at three close games with the dogs playing at home and to win all we had to predict was how many of the underdogs (in bold and red) could pull off a win. Our choices — 0, 1, 2, or 3.
GAME ONE
Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards
After another standout performance from Ish Smith, the Wizards topped the Boston Celtics 99-94 Monday night at Capital One Arena. Washington, playing without Bradley Beal, has now won two straight games, each against teams ranking in the top five in the league standings.
GAME TWO
Denver Nuggets vs. Atlanta Hawks
Nikola Jokic scored a career-high 47 points, Will Barton added a season-best 28 and the Denver Nuggets held off the Atlanta Hawks 123-115 on Monday night. Jokic surpassed his previous career high of 41 points with a putback that gave Denver a 114-109 lead with 3:14 remaining, and there was no stopping the Nuggets after that.
GAME THREE
Milwaukee Bucks vs. San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs bucked a losing streak with their win over Milwaukee. It was a team effort that propelled the Spurs to a 22-point victory, outscoring the Bucks 62-36 in the game. DeMar DeRozan led the way with 25 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds, while Patty Mills knocked down six triples, scoring 21 points in 23 minutes.
Two of the underdogs managed to pull off a win.
