MARCH MADNESS SQUARES FAQ

Many of you have played in previous "Squares" contests before. But, for all those that are new to this kind of contest... 8)

We have received many questions about "Squares". Here are the top 4 most asked questions.
I'm sure there will be many more. Feel free to post them in this thread, or send me a PM.
Also, if you have enough information already, there is no need to read through all this stuff.
But since people were asking questions, here are some answers... and hopefully it will answer them

#1 JUST HOW DOES A SQUARES POOL WORK?
Here is an example of how a box pool works.

Image

We start off with a BLANK 10 by 10 grid.
STEP ONE: People sign up and donate 100 WRZ$ to The Honest Bookie. AND THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO. We do the rest. You just sit back and WIN!

STEP TWO: Once we reach the entry time limit, we will take all the people who signed up and start randomly filling in the boxes with their names. In the example, you can see where Ice and I ended up. Just imagine all the boxes have names in them.
Now obviously this works best with 100 people. However, depending on the number of people entered, you will probably get multiple boxes for your one time entry donation.

STEP THREE: We then use a random number generator to assign the numbers 0 - 9 along the top and the side of the grid.

Now, how do you win?
For every game you look at the last digit of both teams score. If your numbers match, YOU WIN.
In this example:
If the final score of a game is 74 to 69 - ICE WINS
If the final score of a game is 68 to 62 - JG WINS

It really is that simple... and there will be 63 games and chances to win. SO EVERY GAME MATTERS!

#2 WHAT ABOUT THE "FIRST FOUR" GAMES (also known as the play in games), WHY AREN'T THEY INCLUDED?
First, what are the "First Four" Games. There are really 68 teams selected on "Selection Sunday" not 64 like they used to have. They have to eliminate 4 teams before the tournament starts to get to the round number of 64. And the reason we don't include them is TRADITION. March Madness is one of the world's largest bracket pool contests (remember our Hockey Bracket Contest) If people included the "First Four" games, they would have less time to fill out their brackets. And it would give us less time to take entries.
So let's hear it for TRADITION

#3 WHAT ARE THE PAYOFFS GOING TO BE FOR EACH ROUND?
That's a good question and the answer is, we don't know yet. The payoffs will be determined by the final size of the pool.
The size of the pool will be based on the total number of people playing, and the amount of bonus WRZ$ added to the pool by The Honest Bookie. We can say that the for each round, the payoffs will increase, with the Championship game being the biggest and best payoff :D
Which leads us to the next question.

#4 DON'T WE NEED 100 PEOPLE TO MAKE THIS WORK SINCE THERE ARE A 100 SQUARES?
Yes, in an IDEAL WORLD we would love to get 100 people. And based on what we have come to expect for the sports contests so far, it ain't going to happen    Our recruitment goals are based on four levels.
25 people - each player gets 4 squares for their entry
33 people - each player gets 3 squares for their entry (with one square left to possibly increase the pot of the final game)
50 people (our real target) - each player gets 2 squares for their entry
100 people - yeah, right... but would give each person 1 square per entry

If we find ourselves falling short of these goals, we reserve the right to offer people the opportunity to buy multiple entries so that we get the even number we need. We also reserve the right to cut off entries if we reach one of these goals and there isn't a lot of time left (So the sooner you enter, the better) It all depends on how many people we can get and how fast we get them.

Those have been the 4 most asked questions so far.
If after getting bored reading through all of this, you still have questions...
POST THEM in this thread or PM ME!

So if you haven't signed up yet...

SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #1173

NASCAR SUNDAY

We had some exciting NASCAR action on Sunday at the Pennzoil 400, a 312-lap NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada. We split the top drivers into three groups. Our choices — Group 1, 2, or 3, or The Field, with a shot at a bonus for picking who would take home the Championship title.

Final results:
WINNER - Kyle Larson
2nd - Brad Keselowski
3rd - Kyle Busch

Larson took home the victory in Hendrick Motorsports' No. 5 car in Las Vegas at the Pennzoil 400 on Sunday in his first top-row finish since 2019 and his first win since his firing and suspension less than a year ago. Larson led a race-high 103 laps before securing his seventh career Cup win. While Kevin Harvick, the pole-sitter for Sunday's race, surprisingly finished in 20th place, it was Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney who filled out the top five.
