Day Three of the Olympics and the cracks are starting to open up wide!

As NBC continues to bend at the knee and lick the Chinese Governments boots as they goose step on by, reporters are being dragged off the air, athletes are starving, and here, the Chinese are being favored, and here, and Covid is being weaponized as a way to keep NON Chinese athletes down.

Thanks IOC! :(

I won't get on my soapbox, I'll let Dan Wetzle do it for me, Here and Here. But when him and I are agreeing, things are pretty bad already, so much like with Sochi in 2014, buckle up because it is going to be a bumpy ride. Let's just say if you google "Chinese cheating Olympics" you will get a slew of articles from around the world about the speed skating.

Speaking of speed skting, the mens 1000m finals was off the hook both in the Quarterfinals that, in my words, unfairly eliminated the competition, but assured that it was just three Chinese and Two Hungarians in it. But as the two Hungarians, brothers no less, are half Chinese, that means it was 80% Chinese! Terrible! At first I was happy because one of the Hungarian brothers won, but let's just say that the Chinese Govt were not going to let that stand.

The video is here It's pretty crazy!

I do want to say that I'm in no way anti Chinese citizen. If you live in China, welcome! America has it's issues too. :D

Apparently Biathlon is the most popular sport in Germany and not so much in the USA. There are a slew of people who have won three or even four medals by themselves in this sport, IN JUST ONE OLYMPICS! We have apparently never finished better then 11th in any event ever, and 14th in the Women's 15k... until today when Deedra Irwin managed 7th in this 9.3 mile race. So Yea! I'll call that a win. Deedra Irwin teared up, as she should, but it did make me think back to that old adage of "There's no crying in Biathlon." Well maybe this one time.

But from there the hatefulness of the Olympics mostly continued to rear it's ugly head against good ol America.

Mixed Jumping is apparently not a thing for us, as Slovenia won the gold. Is it just me, or does that sound like a made up country in a Disney flick where some American girl finds out that she is secretly a princess and from there and then has to learn how to be royalty while finding out a bit about herself along the way? Hmmm.

Oh, and Canada once again cheated it's way to a bronze through points. Terrible!

In women's speed skating, Kristen Santos and Maame Biney failed to advance to the finals, where, yes, guessed it, Canada cheated it's way to another bronze medal win, this time by skating faster. Terrible!

Luge also hated on us. Emily Sweeney coming off recovering from a spill in the last Olympics that crashed her spine, spilled again, but thankfully walked away. Women's luge being no more interesting then mens luge and thankfully my DVR fast-forwards, uh, fast.

We could have taken the gold in women's Freestyle Big Air skiing. If Eileen Gu hadn't given up her American Citizenship for a Chinese one. I'm not going to clutch my pearls and act like I care that someone would do that. It's been done hundreds of times, particularly if you hold a duel citizenship with another country and can just simply compete for another country, as is the case in most cases. Granted, one does not usually give up an American citizenship for a communist one. I have zero doubt she can make millions over there, and does already, if not tens of millions now with a gold. However, as an older person, I also know things on Earth change and someday she might wish she had that passport back when the youth has faded, the money and notoriety is gone, and what once was, is no more. Good luck to her though, she seems like a nice kid.

The color commentator also said "They make it look so easy, that the viewers at home might feel that even we could do it!" Sure buddy, sure! I'll get right on that.

Finally, that place is crazy looking. You know how the video games always have you doing stuff in crazy settings, like area 51 or something? This place is set at an old factory that looks like a nuclear power plant. It's pretty awesome looking

The USA and Canadian Women played Hockey, and the Americans' made the shrewd savvy veteran move of letting the Canadians win 4-2. A move that will no doubt inflate their egos up so that we can crush them back down in the finals. I for one respect it. For those who think otherwise, I have a meme for you below.

Oh yea, an American player high sticked a Canadian ref in the face. Sigh! Way to stay on the refs side America!

They also showed footage from the first Women's hockey game in 1998. It looked like footage from the 70s. Wow our TV looked bad just 25 years ago.

America did makes some power moves though!

Ryan Cochran-Siegle took silver in the Men's Super G. I have no idea why it's called that, but good for him! He was so thrilled that the Gold medal winner was thrilled more for him then himself.

And then there is the Mens Short Program in Ice Skating. After declaring that Vincent Zhou has covid, sure he does, the reining two time Japanese superstar Yuzuru Hanyu failed to even attempt his opening quadruple salchow, thus finishing in 8th and this left the door open wide for everyone else to come on in.

And American skater Nathan Chen said thank you, did come on in, and scored a world record 113.97! So that was a nice way to end the evening. He was definitely fun to watch and the video is below.

But fellow Japanese skater Yuma Kagiyama is a hoot to watch as well, and I will also add that Canadian skater Keegan Messing, who they also tried to keep out with a so called positive Covid result, was able to skate, and this kid is pretty fun to watch as well. He looks more like a kid who plays football or wrestles or something then a figure skater. In fact he looks more like who Hollywood would cast to be a Ice Skater, then an Ice Skater. There was no video of his skate to post though. Sorry.

Toe Pick

I'd also like to add that they apparently call that place where they all wait for the score the "Kiss and Cry" area. That's kind of funny.

Anway, I'm glad a few of you are enjoying my blogging. It's my one chance to play reporter and It's actually fun for me too.

NBC is not letting their vids be embeded right now. What a bunch of Jerks

I am pretty upset and disappointed after the 1000m men's short track yesterday. I won't deny I am supporting South Korean's skaters since this is one of the few events we are strong in and holds the most potential for winning the gold medal. Of course I am not saying if we will definitely win one if the penalties did not happened but well, at least we would have a go at it. Also, on retrospect, I realised this is not the first controversial that results in China winning the gold (refer to Deepintexas post on all the controversies). I mean, if it happened once, fine, it is common in competitions. Happened twice, coincidence perhaps? Happened 3 or more times? I have nothing against China too but it is harder and harder not to think that bias treatment is given to the host nation, and it makes me wonder what is the point of Olympics. The spirit of Olympics to cultivate friendship, solidarity and fair play is definitely not felt in this edition of Winter Olympics so far, imo. :(

Oh man, this is nothing new... but I don't know if anyone remembers the Ice Skating Scandal of 2002 (it even has it's own wikipedia article!) when the French judge was acting really shady...had her whatever suspended for a certain amount of time... all so that the Russians could win gold. I felt bad for the Canadians who got the silver, and then eventually shared the gold. Also, I remember being super angry at the time. :P Perhaps because of that, I found the sports to be tainted.

That said, old water under the bridge. This performance was so incredible that it deserves another mention. (( had to use a VPN to be able to watch in my country though :D ))

I can't see your video either, but since your post mentions figure skating I'm wondering if your referring to the performance of Kamila Valieva. I'm more into extreme sports than I am figure skating, but to be the first female in Olympics history to land a quad at only 15 years old deserves massive applause.

I vaguely remember hearing about the scandal with the French judge you referred to. But your talk of figure skating scandals reminded me of the more infamous figure skating scandal of 1994...when the ex-husband of Tonya Harding attacked Nancy Kerrigan to keep the latter out of the Nationals and the Olympics (Kerrigan went on to win Olympic silver anyway...Harding failed to medal at the same Olympics and was later banned from the sport). I know its probably wrong that I look back at that whole ridiculous mess and find it some kinda hilarious...

UPDATE: I can see your video now and that you were referring to Kamila Valieva's performance =) She rocked that ice!
