Well said =) Between the politics and the controversies, all kinds of sumfin is just...different...about these games...

I wish the games would be more than just the medals. Of course winning gold is great, fantastic even, but nothing delights me more than seeing the athletes giving their best and cultivating a healthy competitive spirit. Having said this, I was watching the Freestyle Big Air event today and the skiers are all so cool and friendly with one another in the waiting room. I guess the Olympic spirit still lives! :D

I agree with those others who bemoan the loss of the Olympic spirit and ideals. This is why I love stories like Samuel Ikpefan, a skier from a country without snow. Apparently Sam is the entire Nigerian team. I did wonder about funding but he made it happen. I'd love to see him on the podium!

Day four and the Olympics continues to hate on America! Whoa is us! :(

When NBC wasn't smooching on American born Chinese defector Eileen Gu's butt for reasons unknown, the Mens 20K Biatholon came and went.

92 seasoned athletes competed in a marathon on snow. You know, if like at your marathon, everyone was armed with a rifle.

That target you have to hit is crazy small! The center is just the size of a golf ball, and your all hot and sweaty and tired and have to aim it on up. I noticed that they have to load in each round manually. Probably because a long time ago some poor bastard shot some other poor bastard in the head with a bullet when slinging their rifle either on or off.

They also have a minor league for Biathlon which is cool I guess? Not sure I want to be in the Minor League of Biathlon. Unless they pull in hotties and then I definitely want to be in the Minor League of Biathlon. Knowing Europe, they probably do. There is probably countries where you have Biathlon groupies.

Out of the 92 participants, America's athlete, who is so in on Biathlon that he even has a Biathlon name, Leif Nordgren, which was a D&D character that I used to play back in the day, half dwarf thief if your wondering, won... a baby girl, yesterday when his family who he hasn't seen in three months because he is on the Biathlon circuit, came in 87th. Yea! So congratulations on the new kid Leif. The sport, not so much.

I noticed that many of the stands will be full in the middle, and then completely empty everywhere else, and they all seem to be waving flags sometimes. Are these Chinese actors brought in so that they have some people? If they can bring in some, why not bring in many? What a waste. I don't think we will be able to explain this to kids 30 years from now on why we did everything so dumb. And don't say it's Covid, because not only could you just keep the fans away from everyone else, but Covid penetrated that "Covid Bubble" night one when they were all marching on in. So it's all just a clown show people. Enjoy! :D

Women's Luge continues to love Germany and hate the USA. Actually American Ashley Farquharson was first for awhile! And then everyone else went and we were back to last again. Actually Ashley Farquharson finished 12 so good for her, but we got beat by a mom named Natalie Geisenberger who won her third Gold in between having kids. That's how good the Germans are at sledding fast. German moms in their 30's just crush us! :o

This sport is crazy though. I can't imagine what it was like to hurtle yourself down that track 100 years ago with basically a kids sled and no safety equipment. I mean one lady wrecked out and flipped and the sled rode HER down the slope to the finish line. And she walked away. Unenviable! I mean who even tries this sport? Once you go on your first run, your locked in. It's ride or crash because you can't just stop and quit until you finish or die. I just know I'd die on my first ride. I'd panic quick. I'd be wondering why I thought I could do this all the way to Heaven or the Hospital. These people are insane. Germany, you can have it! We'll keep cheerleading.

Then speed skating continued to be unkind to the USA. Up was the Mens 1500, a sport that the announcer claimed they call "The Race of Kings", Sure they do buddy! Sure!

We got hosed by those stupid fast skating Dutch. Some guy named Kjeld Nuis won. He's got a J in his name for some reason. Not sure why. And an umalat! This guy is super Dutch! But man that guy can skate circles around us Americans, so good for him I guess. :(

These people just dominate this sport year after year! Is that like what the cool kids in school are doing. Are you like king jock if your a speed skater in the Netherlands? They literally win like half the medals at every Olympics. It's crazy that like on country is all in on this. I do enjoy watching it though so what does that say about me? I guess if I had grown up in Amsterdam, I would have had a poster of a skater with a umalat in his name on my wall I guess.

In all fairness, one of our skaters, Casey Dawons just got there like 12 hours ago, and had to borrow skates from a Latvian who was super cool enough to lend him a spare, so go Latvia, as the airlines of course lost his luggage. And why was it this way? Covid of course. Something that half them have anyway. Whatever. Funny how those Chinese aren't getting it though. Just sayin.

Joey Mantia came in 6th though but I'm mentioning him because I'm posting a pic of his legs below. You know the joke about college bros skipping leg day? Well everyday is leg day for this guy. His gams are insane. :o

Then there was Women's Slalom. It was looking bad for Mikaela Shiffrin's biggest competitor Petra Vlhova of Slovokia on her first run and hopefully that would be great news for Mikaela Shiffrin in getting the gold. NBC meanwhile being the loveless hacks that they are, kept showing her skiing out of the Giant Slalom on Monday about 200 times! What a bunch of jerks. But whatever, she's gonna rebound and be just fine. Right?

Nope! Disaster struck and she skied out, again! :o :(

The poor women sat there on the course for about 25 minutes devastated. Like off to the side while others skied on by. I'm not sure I have ever seen an athlete this crushed live on TV. I can't even imagine what is going through her head. And then when she gets down some Dbag reporter wants to know "How do you feel". Like crap Ahole. How do you think? Do these reporters not have a school that teaches them how not to ask the wrong questions? If not, they should. That should be a thing I think.

She has 3 more events but right now she seems to be in her own head and this is a super bad time to hit rock bottom in ones career. This was supposed to be her salad days. I'm not sure she can recover but if I was there I would recommend a good steak dinner and a movie to leave it all behind for a few hours. If she just dwells on it she is done. I guess we'll have to wait and see what she's made of. At this point, just making it down the hill would feel good to her I imagine. Hopefully she can recover mentally in the next few days.

It's crazy though because they said that her and the winner Petra Vlhova, who won the Gold by the way, had won like the last 39 of 42 races. But this was Petra's first medal at an Olympics ever and Mikaela Shiffrin has quite a few from past Olympics. Crazy.

I also have no idea how they know which poles to ski around. They have like extra poles for some reason, which they call gates for some reason, and then they paint a blue line to follow around them. That seems really nuts to me. I honestly don't get it. Why are there extra pole at all? And it seems like they skip some of the poles even on the blue line? And why have both blue and red poles? I really have no idea what is going on in this Slalom. It's all very confusing to me.

I could Wikipedia it, but no! I will continue to not know on purpose because I like complaining about it to much.

America had some good stuff going on though and I think were set to start turning things around. We got some possible Golds in our future this week.

American Jessie Diggins got a bronze in Sprint Skiing. I didn't know that was a thing. It was fun to watch though. Apparently it is for the Swedish as they had three people out of six in the finals, so who knows what is going on in Sweden that makes them so good at this. Do the Swedish kids just like sprint everywhere in the winter? But not to far. Just like one mile because that is how long the course is.

In Mens Freestyle Skiing Big Air, we had three guys in the finals and American Colby Stevenson took Silver as Birk Ruud of Norway took Gold, skiing his final run with a flag in hand which was kind of baddass. This sport is actually pretty cool and grew on me this year. It's like gymnastics in the air as you fly down a hill. Crazy stuff. I'm gonna warn you though, I got a gnarly picture of Colby down below I snapped off my TV. Apparently he fell asleep at the wheel a while back and messed himself up bad. Came like a millimeter of being having brain damaged. They had to piece his skull back together like a jigsaw puzzle. Thanks for giving us a warning on that pic NBC!

I also thought it was cool that when you left the run, you could video chat with your family right then and there on some big device they set up. That's pretty awesome we can do that now. Tech is pretty cool when we use it correctly.

Finally were looking good on the Half pipe. Chloe Kim advances to the Finals and won gold last time so I'm feeling good about that. She looked solid and I like her chances. I don't think I saw to many people doing anything she can't do.

And we got in three of four Americans in on the Mens side. Shawn White, Taylor Gold and Chase Josey who on his final run bumped out fellow American Louie Vitto III who was boarding for Italy, but didn't' give up his citizenship! See how that works! He can still come home and not have to have a green card! See that Eileen Gu how that works! SMH

Shawn's looking good but those Japanese are looking amazing. This is going to be a tough one. He is going to have to McTwist his @$$ off if he wants another medal, let alone a gold. These snowboarders are not playing around this year. It's going to be quite the show on Thursday. I can't wait.

There is also a Slovenian snowboarder dude named Tit Stante. Apparently when he is training in the USA, they call him Tito.

Uh, no shit! What else would you call him! "Hey Tits, get over here!". If ever someone was ripe for a nickname, it was this guy!

Anyway, it was a fun evening of viewing and hopefully were going to get our first Gold pretty soon. Can't wait. Bye!

Wow so he probably resides in a country with the facilities for practice? Interesting..

These comments reminded me of the Jamaican bobsled team made famous in the movie Cool Runnings...which led me to Google and learning that for the first time in 24 years Jamaica again has an Olympic bobsled team =) I'm surprised I hadn't heard this before today...

AND this time around they also have an Alpine skier to represent the Jamaican team:
