Day Ten of the Olympics and here we go again!

Hi! Let's just jump right into it!

USA Women's Hockey got the win over Finland 4-1 and sends them to the Bronze game to fight it out with Switzerland for the gold on the 16th and Canaduh and the United States will slug it out on the 17th

Mens Curling try to climb back in with a win over the Swiss

And NBC ruined Women's Freestyle Skiing Aerial's outcome for us in the afternoon, right on time of course! But I won't, so read further down for the exciting conclusion. Way to go NBC! Your doing Satan's work for us!

They finally showed heat three and all of heat four of Women's monobob from yesterday. We still got the silver and Gold.

NBC started promoting our favorite defector Eileen Gu! I think Gu is short for Gush, as that is what NBC does over her. Gushhhhhh! :o

We got the beginning of a few events that I will cover at the end, and then we went into Mens Team Ski Jump Large Hill! Yeahhhhhhh!

No wait? Boooooooriiiiiing!

But actually it wasn't. I'm not saying that I'm gonna start watching this in between Olympics anytime soon, but it really wasn't too bad. Lot's of fast forwarding for sure, but the ending was as intense as any as each team tried to win the day.

You start way up at 447 feet at the top, ski down and jump at 289 feet, and sail as fast as 75 miles per hour through the air! You get points add if you jump into the wind, as it is amazingly harder, and points taken away if you jump with the wind. I guess to account for the wind changing from jump to jump. Wild! They also give points for style. What style? They all look the same! Like Micheal Jackson leaning forward in Moonwalker. Japan is pretty good at this, especially Ryoyu Kobayashi who has a gold for the individual at these games, as well as a silver and previous bronze. His training is either super awesome, or super dumb. You decide, I posted a video below. He does have three medals though, so it's probably super awesome. It was Austria with the Gold, Slovenia in Silver, Germany in Bronze, and Norway and Japan close behind.

So now we go to Women's Slope Style Skiing. Sigh! Or NBC presents Eileen Guuuuuuuuuuuu!

No wait, I'll leave it for last. :D

Mens two man Bobsled got underway. I like this way better then Luuuuuuge and Skeleton. And maybe even more then four man as the sleds are shorter and maybe more cool looking going down. I'll guess only time will tell.

It should come as little surprise that America is not really in this, and Germany is very much in this. Other then Monobob playing spoiler, Germany has all the Golds at the House of Speed so far these Olympics. In Heat one, it was Germany with first and second, ROC in third and Germany in fourth. Shocker! America was 13th and 25th. Shocker! After Heat two, Germany has first, second, and sixth, with freaking Monaco in third! What! Switzerland in fourth and ROC in fifth. America was now 15th, and freaking last! And to put that in perspective, in case you think we might pull out a miracle, Brazil and Jamaica are in this. As in front of our second team at 28th and 29th! I mean yea, Church missed the training due to a toe injury, but Jamaica is a hot island nation state of fast runners. And yea, I've seen Cool Running's 1993 about their run in the 1988 Olympics, but the take away wasn't for me as "Good try" so much as "Don't lose to them!" Here is their Wiki page

Terrible!

In all fairness, Hakeem Abdul-Saboor, Frank Del Duca at 15th are active military soldiers, thank you for your service, so I guess I'll give them a pass. A tiny pass, but a pass non the less, thank you for your service. But Charles Volker, Hunter Church! Come on!

Women's downhill was delayed so that messed up everything as everything below got split up by NBC, but it did finally go off and here it is. Mikaela Shiffrin looked good and in good spirits, sped hard, made it down, but was slow, skied into 12th and ended up 18th.

Fellow Americans did no better in this event. Keely Cashman from Strawberry California, population you and me, or in reality, just 68 people came out just in front of Mikaela at 17th, but did start off at 26th so good for her. Keely is coming off a brutal crash that included a MCL injury, hemotoma in both hips, temporary loos of feeling in her foot and brain injury that resulted in an eight day stay in the hospital as she had to recover her memory. As in it came back after going for a movie or something. Hours not days. But still!

Meanwhile Americans Jacqueline Wiles skied in at 30th and out at 21st and Alix Wilkinson did not finish, and two handed gelato junkie Ester Ledecka also went, skied into fifth, but landed at 27th. Maybe she needs to stick to snowboarding. Just sayin! It was a fluke Ledecka! I'm not being hateful, just real!

The real action on the hill however was between the Swiss and Italy. Reining 2018 gold medalist Sofia Goggia crashed hard three weeks ago doing a Super G and much like Mikaela on the Super G finals a few days ago, was just thrilled to get all the way down and in one piece. Much like with Mikaela, you could see the fear and apprehension in her face to start that race, and relief when she made it to the the bottom. Well that fear was gone to day and she was back to her old form. When she went Italy was in the top two, and then a minute thirty two later she made it to the bottom of the hill, but to the top of the current results as she skied right into first, and for a time, it looked like Italy might sweep. Sofia Goggia was in good spirits from then on in but Corinne Suter of the Swiss played spoiler to her gold repeat dreams and when it was all done it was Suter Gold, Goggia silver and fellow Italian Delago bronze with another Swiss Miss coming in a close 6th.

We also got the Women's' Freestyle Aerials Final which was pretty exciting actually. We had three Americans in the event. Kalia Kuhn, Ashley Caldwell, and Megan Nick. There were also two Chinese and one from Belarus in the top six when we dropped on in. In fact it was USA, China, China, USA, Belarus, USA. Most of them former Gymnasts at some point in their lives which makes total sense. Were talking small skies, 40MPH down a hill, 14 foot jump, fifty feet up, and hope you land on your feet. And your doing tricks called The Hurricane and Daddy which is a quad twisting triple. Which makes me wonder if when you fail to land the Daddy, if you have Daddy Issues?

China showed up round two but America still looked really good going into a very long break with American Ashley Caldwell on top and looking strong, followed by two from China, one from Australia who was trying to climb back in, American Megan Nick, and Hanna Huskova of Belarus who did not want to go away.

In the last round everyone went huge. Hanna of Belarus looked great and slipped into first. American Megan Nick a bit less and went into second. Aussie Laura Peel fell on the landing but was right now 3rd by default. Chinese Kong Fanyu landed rough and nailed her head hard sending shock waves through he Chinese crowd, actors and real spectators alike. She assured them she was OK though as she skated off and landing on your head must score big as she still over took the Aussie. It now came down to Xu of China and American Ashley Caldwell. China had never won a Gold in Women's Ariel's. Xu went large and was rewarded and went into first, the crowd once again wild but with cheers instead of gasps. Now it was down to Ashley. She skied down the hill, up, looked great, look great, and Ashley landed... on her backside, finished fourth and China won. Ashley seemed genuinely happy for Xu and even gave her a hug. The order was China, Belarus, and American Megan Nick with the bronze. Americas first in this event since 1998, so way to go Megan!

Mens Big Air concluded today. Lot's of Chinese actors in the crowd, but also a few real ones. When we last left off Americans Red Gerard and Chris Corning were the two Americans in the top twelve as Sean FitzSimons and Dusty Henricksen failed to advance. Max Perrot of Canada, 2018 silver medalist was in the mix as well as Niek van der Velden of the Netherlands, Su Yiming of China and Mons Roisland of Norway looking to make waves.

BTW, you take the best of 3 runs, top two count, no repeats.

American Chris Corning took the early lead in round one with Red Gerard in the hunt at six and Su of China Mons of Norway and Hiroaki of Japan putting up nice scores as well.

In round two Chris and Red failed to stick and needed to get something going in the third if they were to medal. Su and Max however put up great scores as well as Takeru Otsuka of Japan with a 95.00 now looking to make it interesting. Mons of Norway had a 75.00, but a strong showing from the first put him in the hunt for a medal.

In the final round American Red had a nice run, and landed into 3rd, but with just a 83.25 to go with his 82.50, he would finish in 5th. Chris I'm sad to say played it safe and burned off that 92.00 lions roar from the first and put up whimper with just a 64.00 in the third. He would end up even lower then Red at 7th which is a shame. I have no idea why he didn't risk a fail and go for it, but he didn't' and let's hope that doesn't haunt his dreams down the road.

Those who did sale out though were Max of Canada who came into the third run in tenth and went bigger and Max got a 76.25 to add to his 94 from the second round. It may not sound like much but as more people took their turns and wiped out, it kept in the medal hunt. Hiroaki of Japan got an 84, but add it to his 82.25, and that was just good for third. It now came down to Mons of Norway. Su Yiming was sitting at the top and Mons needed to do something special. He went for it, and failed, and that was that. Mons of Norway took silver, Canada Max at bronze and Su of China did a simple victory flip to a cheering crowd for the gold. China's first in snowboarding.

In true NBC fashion, when ever someone had a bad run, you knew it because the would split screen into a commercial. Way to go NBC!

Womens Snowboard Big Air also concluded today. I could swear we already did this! Sometimes it feels that way. When we last left them, Americans Jamie Anderson and Rourtney Rummel failed to make the top 12 into the finals. Jamie was looking good at 11th until she wasn't when a Czeck and fellow American Hailey knocked her out of the hunt and got left just outside at 13th. Zoi Synnott of New Zeland was NZ's first Gold medalist ever in these Olympics when she took the gold in Slope style and hoped to repeat in this event. She came into the finals in first, trailed by two from Japan, Canada, and Japan. Lone American Hailey Langland was in the back in 12th.

Once again, you take the best of 3 runs, top two count, no repeats.

2018 Gold medal winner Anna Gasser of Austria came on strong from the start, but so did Zoi, as well as Japanese Kokomo Murase and Reira Iwabuchi. American Hailey Langland slid out near the bottom with just 25.25. She would try and improve on that in the second, but this was not her day. She would slid out on runs two and three, and ended up the day where she started back in 12th. The top four pushed hard though in the second and were the leaders going into run three. Japanese Kokomo had a bad landing as did Iwabuchi, but Iwabuchi went for a sick triple something, cab? and although she failed to land it, it got mad respect from her peers who came out to give her a big group hug for the effort. That left us Anna of Austria in second and 20 year old Zoi of New Zealand in first. Anna went huge on a Cab 1280, good year, and landed it and went into first leaving just Zoi to go. Zoi pushed it hard and and was looking great! Until she wasn't. She failed to stick and for the second straight year, Anna of Austria won the day. Zoi with silver is s now New Zealands only double medal winner in the Olympic games as well and Japans Kokomo the bronze

Finally I guess we will talk about Women's Slope Style Skiing Finals, ft Eileen Guuuuuuuuuuu!

So I have it figured out. Either NBC, as in NBC Universal, a massive multinational and mass media entertainment conglomerate corporation owned by comecast and headquartered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, NYC, a company who one it's own has 35K employees and owns tons of companies and has billions in assets, either really doesn't know that Eileen Gu is NOT, I repeat, IS NOT an American citizen anymore, or is just pretending not too! They literally refereed to her as an American citizen from San Fransisco!

So there you go! And NBC as such would gush, gush gush, for Gu! All night! Unbelievable! NBC and Gu, sitting in a tree, KISSING! It was ridiculous! They went all out in a lengthy bio. Biracial. (Who isn't? I'm more then two!) A girl, there words not mine. smh Inspiration to all! Ya, you and ever athlete apparently! I'm sick of hearing about it! Graduated High school a year early, off to Stanford, 1580 SAT, can leap tall buildings in a single bound, might join the Guardians of the Galaxy. It was all night with this everyone! All night!

And that all would have been great. If she was an American who didn't have to go to college with a green card. SMH. :(

So this last event was exciting. Top 12 came in, three runs, best run takes it. Switzerland's Mathilde Gremaud looked to come in hard, but not on her first run. She lost a ski when the binding released and simply skied down. Then Canadian Olivia Asselin came out, and did no tricks. Zero. And then she dropped out all together saying that her body wasn't working right, whatever that means. Actually we only started eleven as American Marin Hamill's was gone to begin with when she crashed on the course in qualifying and has since gone home for evaluation of her right leg. So not a great start.

It did get slightly better though when front runners like Kelly Sildaru of Estonia took the course. Kelly comes from a country with no mountains so she has to train on trampolines. You would think that is dumb, except she came into the finals in first. She got an 82.06 on her first run which kept her there. Two time World Medalist Tess Ledex also looked good on her first run, and then no more, so we will not talk about her anymore, she ended up in seventh. Katie Summerhayes of Great Britain also came out strong, and then faded into an eventual ninth. Lone American Maggie Voisen not so much in round one, putting up a score of 35.48 Hmmm. Who else was there. Oh yea! Guuuuuuuuu! 18 year old Gu came out hot and heavy with a 69 and was into second going into run two.

Guuuuuuuuuu!

Run two got more interesting when Swiss Gremaud redeemed herself with a 86.56 and moved into first place. Lone American Maggie Voisen also came hard and scored a 74.28 to try and clime back in. Johane Killi of Norway also looked like a contender with a 73.11 and Katie of GB also was trying hard with a 64.75, but once again, would end in 9th. But she did look good in the second! Kelly of Estonia did not improve, but still retained third for the time being. ROC Anastasia got into the mix with a 75.51. Also, I hear she is besties with Putin or something, like she got a call from him and everything when she got gold in the 2021 Worlds and I guess their going to do a sleep over and each others hair or something down the road. Can't remember. Is that political intrigue in this event? Not sure. And um...let's see...how do we have left...uh... Guuuuuu!

Eileen Gu looked like hot garbage on her second run, kind of touched the rails twice and then go boom on her butt. 16.98 was her score!

So now were down the third and final run. They went off in order of worst to first. Johanne Killi of Norway looked to improve on that second run and did pretty good, but it was for not, she ended up in sixth. American Maggie Voisin sold out and went hard but was not rewarded at all. She got a 66.03 and landed in 5th. Friend of Putin also did not medal despite a valiant effort and the ROC was in forth. So how were down to Kelly of Estonia in third. Much like Gu she is doing the same three events and we will see both her and Gu in half-pipe skiing. She also sold out with a 900 and twin 1080s and I thought she looked great, but the judges disagreed and she ended up in third with the bronze which is pretty good when you train on a trampoline in a country with no mountains. It's literally like if Jamaica did win the bobsled IMO. Good for her! So now it's Gu who is off the podium and looking for a second medal in these games. And she really needs it too. These Chinese do not tolerate failure. Just ask Zhu Yi who also gave up her citizenship to go and skate for China, fell and is now being mocked by it's citizens on social media. Gu does have a Gold though so far and you can buy her merchandise in a store and carry it out in a bag with her face on. Seriously!

So how did she do?

She lost!

Seriously!

HAHAHAHA!

No, she took second.

Gu did a 900, double cork, 900 and looked good for the gold, but will settle for a silver instead falling just short of Mathilde Gremaud of Sweden's score by just .32 As in to go with the gold she already has from 2018. But Mathilde still went hard at run number three and tried for twin double corks but fell super hard, looked hurt, but seems fine and has the Gold, Gu of China silver, and Kelly of Estonia bronze, with Maggie Voisen of the USA once again placing 5th

Whew!

Now let's be clear here, technically Gu, has never has said that she has renounced her citizenship when repeatedly asked. She could still be an American. But only if China is playing favorites, as in they do not allow a dual citizenship. That's their rule! Not ours! And we do allow it, and many do compete for other countries and come home, almost exclusively when your not good enough to compete for us. But, weirdly, the Chinese kids are also roasting Nathan Chen for not competing for China, but he is an American, so I don't get that. Is Gu still an American? I have no idea. I don't think she is. She shouldn't be according to China. But this is China, so maybe they just gave her a pass. Who knows. Not this guy. But I am still like 98% sure she is a Chinese citizen now and will run with that notion until corrected otherwise.

I would like to state though that she is probably really nice, and a good person, and I am just being silly and dumb, so hopefully no one makes the mistake of taking me seriously. At the end of the day, laughing with, not at, 99% of the time. :)

Laughing at NBC though 100% of the time as they are the worst!!!

Anyway, I hope you have a great day. Bye!

Testing, one, two, three.
Everything I post is always in good humor and fun.
Unless I'm on my soapbox screaming out crazy, and then well......
