OK changing things up a bit and coming to you after the end of a double match. In the third stage of the group stage matches happen simultaneously to avoid match fixing as witnessed during the 1982 Spanish World Cup in group 2 by West Germany and Austria. So recap in Group A we had Ecuador, Nertherlands, Qatar and Senegal. Qatar lost both its first matches and became the first country to be disqualified from advancement. Ecuador won one and drew one as did Netherlands whereas Senegal won one and lost one. Today we had Netherlands v Qatar and Ecuador v Senegal. Netherlands had an easy win over the host with a 2-0 score and they tried even for a third goal unfortunately it was pronounced a handball nevertheless the Dutch secured themselves a spot in the round of 16. As for the more interesting match Ecuador v Senegal. The odds showed an even chance between a draw and a win from either team although Ecuador was given the bigger odd. Now as both team where equally motivated to win they gave their all. The first half almost ended in a draw but in the 44th minute Senegal was awarded a penalty they took full advantage of and so they went into the second half with the advantage. About 20 minutes into the second half Ecuador scored their first goal of the match therefore having the advantage as a draw for them meant advancement however it was not to be as 3 minutes later Senegal scored their second goal. The Ecuadorians tried to score again but were unsuccessful and so the match ended in a 1-2 score for Senegal who have secured themselves a spot in the Round of 16
