SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #191

UNDERDOGS

For this Tuesday night Baseball edition of UNDERDOGS, we looked at two rivalry games and had to answer the question: “Will both underdogs lose?”
We had two choices — YES, if we thought both dogs would lose, or NO, if we thought at least one of them could pull off an upset.

GAME ONE
Florida Marlins at Atlanta Braves
Image

The first place Atlanta Braves took on their division rival, and last place Marlins. Both teams were neck and neck right from the start until the 6th inning. Braves scored 4 runs at the bottom of the 7th to jump ahead 10-6 and it was pretty much all over for the Marlins after that.

GAME TWO
Cleveland Indians at Cincinnati Reds

The two teams from the state of Ohio squared off in yet another uneven match up between a first place team and a last place team. Too bad we didn’t do a Slaughter Rule for this game because the dogs got SLAUGHTERED! Indians set the tone early racing off to a 6-0 lead top of the 2nd and the Reds had no real hope of catching up after that.

Since BOTH underdogs lost, the correct answer was YES.

Nick Kyrgios forgets his shoes, still manages to win Cincinnati Open first round

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-15/n ... tion=sport

Nick Kyrgios had to overcome the embarrassment of forgetting his tennis shoes to battle through to the second round of the Cincinnati Open with a three-set victory over American qualifier Denis Kudla.

The Australian 15th seed held up the start of play as he was seen searching his kit bag on court before admitting to officials he hadn't packed his trainers.

"Wait, what?" Kyrgios could be heard saying on camera as he went through the various compartments of his tennis bag, before swearing when he realised what had happened.

After walking around the side of the court in his dark grey socks to find someone who could retrieve his shoes, the embarrassed world number 18 then told his bemused opponent "I left my tennis shoes in the locker room, sorry man".

After a tournament aide came to the rescue by retrieving his required footwear, which meant he didn't have to play in the basketball shoes he walked on to court in, last year's tournament runner-up wrapped up a nervy 6-7 (7-2), 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) victory in one hour and 58 minutes.

The mercurial Kyrgios again produced some dazzling shots and fired 39 aces, including a huge second-serve ace when down match point.
