They've been in the National League Championship Series three straight years, and have a World Series. Not bad in my book... And only the Yankees have won back to back series since 2000
This year they dont have the monster teams some do.
I'll grant you that the the AL has three monster teams in Boston, New York and Houston
But in the National League...
Cubs still have the best record even with the injury problems they have faced
Brewers arent going to lie down this year I can tell you that. With a less of a team St. Louis has shown major heart. The pirates have fought all year. Shhh even the reds are playing better. I wont be surprise if this aint their year.
And where are all those teams right now...
Cubs still lead the division and the National League
Milwaukee are 3 and 7 in their last 10 games
St Louis had indeed shown a marked improvement since the change in managers, and I'm more concerned about them then the Brewers. But they are still 5 games back
Somehow Yu was a bust signing but I had it as one of their great signing and I thought letting Jake go for him was the right move but some how Jake is having a good year. As much as I like Yu he has fallen in my book. First the world series then this?
Yeah, Yu has been worthless so far, but the season isn't over yet. Jake is not having that good of a year. He's only 9 and 7 with a 3.33 ERA
But his WHIP is 1.22, which is not good at all. It's about what he did last year for the Cubs. True, he would have been better than Yu, but we signed Yu for the long term, and he still may be worth it in the end.
Do you really think the cubs have a team to compete? Who's the heart of their team this year?
That's the nice thing about team with tons of talent. You don't have to count a single player to win. Everybody contributes
This year, it's Javier Báez... Hitting 300, 25 HR's, 19 Stolen Bases and tied for the National League lead in RBI's at 89
He's a MVP candidate
The dodgers are invincible
Yeah... the team with tons of talent who are currently in third place and are 4 and 6 in their last 10 games
Sure, they will probably get better since they have so much talent, but invincible... I don't think so.
Milwaukee is in and wait until they get players like Jimmy Nelson and some of their players to start clicking like Anderson, Braun, statuer, even Soria. With that beast Hader at the end who can pretty much say lights out.
And the Cubs are missing a ton of talent as well... But they are still winning without them. Just think how good they will be when they get these players back
Other teams are hungery like Cardinals, and Philies. Im telling you. Unless they get an extra bat or somehow suckas like Heyward prove a spark I think they are done this year. They need to get stabilize and get over their under performing players.
Yeah... those hungry teams you keep talking about have worse records and none of them are even in first place in their divisions
The Cubs do indeed have heart. They know how to win, even without their best. Again, they lead the league in come from behind wins.
They don't roll over when they are down. They've had many huge comebacks this year, proving they have the heart and desire to win.
