Winx breaks Black Caviar's record with 26th consecutive win

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-18/w ... tion=sport

Amazing Winx now officially the world's best horse as she tops global rankings.

Chris Waller admits he is running out of words to describe the phenomenon that is Winx but the trainer found a couple of new ones after the mare dominated the first running of the Group One Winx Stakes at Randwick in front of thousands of adoring fans.

As she strode to the line under soft hands from her jockey Hugh Bowman, Winx claimed an Australian record 26th-straight victory and her 19th at the highest level.

"You look for signs of her losing that dominance but I haven't seen one ounce of it," Waller said. "If anything I've seen improvement and it's quite staggering. This isn't about me. It's about this amazing animal. What she's doing for sport and Australian racing, we should all take a bow and say well done Winx."

The late addition of Kementari to the field brought a new dimension to Saturday's 1,400-metre weight-for-age race, with many predicting a match race.

He was no match, with the pair making their runs together at the top of the straight before Bowman revved up Winx and she dropped Kementari with ease.

As the $1.24 favourite eased clear, it was left to Invictus Prince to lead the rest. He finished two lengths behind Winx with her stablemate D'Argento another length third and Kementari fourth.

SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #196

DOUBLE PLAY PART 1
UNDERDOGS

This Sunday is just full of sports... and while we've done Baseball a ton, we still have the Premier League and Auto Racing... So, time for another DOUBLE PLAY
We will have two separate contests, and you will get a 25 WRZ$ Double Play bonus if you win BOTH of them. So stay tuned for the second part of this Double Play later today.

The first part of this DOUBLE PLAY will be called the Tale of Two Manchesters... both are favored, but will they both win?

It's time for another edition of UNDERDOGS
For those not familiar with the term, Underdogs are the exact opposite of the Favorites. The term is usually shorted to simply "the dog". When you hear the expression, "who is the dog in this match", somebody is asking which team or player is not the favorite. The term is usually only used when somebody or some team is really over matched.

For this Sunday edition of UNDERDOGS, we will provide you with two games. Unlike Slaughter Rule where we are asking you to pick which one will lose by the most points, here we are simply asking "Will both of these teams lose?"
NOTE: For this Premier League contest, a Draw is considered a win by the Underdogs

Your job will be simple... Say YES, which means you think both will lose, or Say NO, which means you think at least one of these two teams will actually win or have the match end in a Draw.
So, it doesn't get any easier than this, just a YES or a NO

INFORMATION
GAME ONE

Manchester City 89% vs. Huddersfield 4% + DRAW 7% = 11%
Why are they even bothering to play this game...
This is going to be really brutal

GAME TWO
Brighton 17% + DRAW 27% = 44% vs. Manchester United 56%
While Manchester United is a big favorite, when you throw in the DRAW, it might be closer than you think
Will this be the game that determines this contest :D

The UNDERDOGS are in bold and red

What is it?
A contest where you predicting whether both underdogs will lose. Say YES, which means you think both dogs will lose, or Say NO, which means you think at least one of these two teams will actually win or have the match end in a Draw.

How do you play?
To enter this contest, you will need to post the following:
DOUBLE PLAY PART 1 - UNDERDOGS
And post either YES for BOTH dogs losing or NO for at least one of them winning or having a draw

Usain Bolt: Fans gather for sprinting legend in Australia

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45232261

Usain Bolt is no stranger to the adulation of sports fans.

However, at Sydney airport on Saturday, Bolt was welcomed not as a sprinter - but as a footballer.

The eight-time Olympic champion, who has agreed an "indefinite training period" with A-League side Central Coast Mariners, was greeted by legions of fans on his arrival, including children with "Welcome Usain" signs.

"I love Australia, so I'm happy to call Australia home for now," said Bolt. "I'm going to show the world what I'm made of," the Jamaican added.

Bolt could train with the Mariners for the first time on Tuesday - which is also his 32nd birthday.

Meanwhile, the Mariners have welcomed the athletics legend to the club - with a lightning bolt image in the centre circle at their home ground.

Ryder Cup: Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson difficult to leave out - Jim Furyk

https://www.bbc.com/sport/golf/45172153

By having Brooks Koepka as their top qualifier, the United States Ryder Cup team can boast 2018's most devastating golfer among its ranks.

The 28-year-old from Florida has been celebrating a stunning PGA Championship win - one that will live long in the memory despite the one-dimensional nature of the long and soft Bellerive course that staged last week's tournament.

And as US Open champion Koepka collected his second major of the year, Tiger Woods also left us in no doubt that he will also be part of Jim Furyk's American team. Even though the 42-year-old finished outside the automatic top eight qualifiers, he looks certain to receive a wildcard pick.

Woods has already been named as a vice captain for the US defence of the Ryder Cup in France next month, but his claims to be there in a playing capacity are now overwhelming.

His closing six-under-par 64 in St Louis gave him the runner-up spot a month after finishing joint sixth at the Open.

"He's the guy who can just will himself to play good golf," Furyk told BBC Sport. "I realise that right now we are here to celebrate the top eight players, but he's hard to ignore. He's played very good golf and obviously put himself in a very good position for a captain's pick."
