SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #204
CROSSOVER DAILY DOUBLE

For our Sunday contest, we focused on two European events…The Belgian Grand Prix and the Premier League. To win, all we had to do was guess correctly in BOTH events.

EVENT ONE - FORMULA 1

The Belgian Grand Prix, part of the Formula One World Championship, is held at the the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps race course in Stavelot, Belgium. It is one of the most challenging race tracks in the world, mainly due to its fast, hilly and twisty nature. The course is also known for its unpredictable weather. Drivers often confront a part of the course that is clear and bright while another stretch is rainy and slippery.



Hamilton was hoping to defend his title and extend his 24-point lead at the top of the Formula 1 Championship points table…but it was not to be.
Hamilton and Vettel went neck-and-neck right but after an even start, Vettel nipped in front to take the lead.
After the 40th lap, Vettel seemed to have it in the bag. He was almost 10 seconds in front of Hamilton, who just wasn’t able to get near the Ferrari after they both pitted.
Vettel grabbed his third victory at the Spa and Ferrari’s first in Belgium since 2009.

EVENT TWO - PREMIER LEAGUE

Fulham vs. Burnley/DRAW


Both teams were looking for their first win this PL. After 2 quick goals the game was tied 1-1. Mitrovic starred in Fulham’s 2-goal lead as he scored twice in 2 minutes to help the hosts lead 3-1. Fulham had the upper-hand on possession and shots on target in the first half. There were multiple unsuccessful attempts in the second half with both teams attacking. Burnley tried their best to equalize it but Schurrle’s goal at the 83rd minute sealed the win for Fulham.
